Not Drowning, Waving

There's something about this Australian band that speaks to me. Sometimes they remind me of Dead Can Dance, with their blend of aboriginal music with modern instruments, & other times they're just plain melodically beautiful & mellow, while other times they're rather weird & funny...I hope someone else likes them.

Well, I waited and waited for someone else to respond.
But they didn't.
Hope it doesn't ruin it for you that it was me first.
I liked it.
Atmospheric. Gets you straight to "feeling" and "depth of emotion". I'd say peaceful, but that's not exactly right. Maybe "embracing" is a better term. The writer wants to embrace the world, embrace other cultures, meld them together as one, while showing the light of them all.
If there was such a thing as "World Peace" or "World Undertanding" music... this would be it.
Very noble.
Very positive feeling.
Thanks for sharing.

Not Drowning was very good Phil. There is something about the Ozzie makeup that I like whether in Music or film, there is just an edge of strangeness and a void that you cannot place a finger on.
Thanks for posting this, I'd not heard of them before.

I notice the songs were from a 1988 album. Did the band disappear?

Yes, they broke up. The lead guy's newest band is called "My Friend Chocolate Cake," I think, but I haven't looked them up, yet. I only get so many nuggets to look stuff up each day...
When I found their "Claim" CD in the dollar bin at Big Lots, I knew I'd found a real gem, & I just started looking up their other stuff on a whim.
There's something about some of their instrumental stuff that actually brings tears to my eyes, sometimes, & I can't for the life of me figure out why. It's such a primal thing, I guess. Or maybe it's epilepsy...LOL...but even the happier stuff can do that to me. Those rhythms & weird voices & the blend of traditional aboriginal sounds & modern instruments are downright hypnotic to me.
They seem to have a pretty strong political stance about Papua New Guinea (something that I have no info on, thus no opinion), & while I don't understand much of it at all, there are emotions that come through & get me by the boo-boos.
Man, I'd love to write stuff like that!
I'm glad you liked it. Some of my friends seem to think my musical tastes are somewhat strange...

These are a decent outfit too so far as I am concerned. Very nice patching and putting together of tunes. Home Improvements, (The song) was very catchy. The other as someone else said there was a driving tune for sure.
No idea what this track is called? (3rd one). Nice moody stuff though, right up my acre.
Thanks for looking these out Phil
