I recently put one of my amps on Craigslist

Every person that responed has basically said

Consider the amp sold. I need your info where to send a registered check. Once it clears I will arrange shipment.

My ad said local sale, will not ship and specifically CASH ONLY

Are people so dumb to accept the checks?

Yes.

I have only done one "person to person" transaction on line.
That was with Shredd6.
First of all, I felt as I could trust him.
(pretty rare feeling in my case, and as it turned out, I was right)
Secondly, I had my bank cut him the check, so he knew my intent was honorable.

The E net is a good place for those of ill intent to prey on the unwitting.
