Prolific

Who is the most prolific musician of all time? You might guess The Beatles, or Frank Zappa, or the Bee Gees, or even Vivaldi or J.S.Bach, but you'd be wrong. Georg Philip Telemann composed over 3,000 pieces of music. Considering the much shorter life spans back then that's an amazing output. I'm happy if I write a couple new tunes a year.

Telemann was a contemporary of Bach, very similar style. The dude must have had no social life.

It's truly horrifying that he wrote so much and yet his work seems to be unknown.
(did he eat the barrel or did he jump from on high?)

Well he's quite well-known to classical music listeners, maybe not the Mozart or Beethoven level but he's still highly regarded. As far as his death, he lived to be quite old, 86. He composed until the day he died. Check this for more info

I seem to vaugly remember studying on his work when I was in Nursing School. (music appreciation was an available elective for prereqs.)
I am quite a fan of classical music, not by name as such but I love to hear orchestra.
And that reminds me I must get ready to go get George from orchestra camp.
