Where Can I Find Someone Who Does Electronic Music?

I am a female singer from Los Angeles Ca, trying to find a band or put a band together that is like a.... Sexy-Electro-Glam-Pop-Rock with raw energy and like Goldfrapp and Shiny Toy Guns ish. I feel like this might not be the site to find people like that. There is a lot of straight up rock and metal on here.... which is awesome.... but not what I am looking for.

Any ideas on where to find people looking to create a more electro commercial kind of sound?

Thx

You might try some open mics at some of the local venues that cater to your style of music.
Perhaps at a local college campus music department. Put up wanted posters and talk with the folk in your area music stores.
Networking is the name of the game. And it takes a lot of shoe leather.
Just remember to be carefull out there. You have to kiss a lot of toads to find that prince.
You will need some way of demonstrating your skills, music posted on a web site or a demo CD.
Best of luck on your search.

I just typed "Electro Pop rock, forums" into Google and found a bunch of sites. Didn't check them out as that's not what I'm into, but you might find just what you're looking for. Don't drop this forum though. Your honesty and straightforwardnis (yeah, I made that up) is cool and perhaps if you find that band, you'll want to post music up here. We listen to anything, not just our own favorite genres. Good luck Tanya to the 3rd power. ;)

Looked at your profile. Years playing music-3. Gigs played under 10. Level of commitment-TOURING? Maybe a tad bit ambitious for your experience level, but there's nothing wrong with having ambition. It just might be a little more realistic to prove yourself locally for a while before you tour. Not having any of YOUR singing on your profile page will limit your responses. Anyway good luck...

I'd forget about looking at local open mikes for this style of music, unless someone knows something I don't . . . you could go, and ask around . . .
.
But you don't HAVE to ask around.
You can talk directly to folks who are already doing it.
.
I found tons and tons of electronic musicians by becoming friends with "Tangerine Dream," and noting on my MySpace page that we were friends.
.
Over the subsequent months, a lot of folks of the same genre contacted me, asking to be my friend . . .
.
You can go to their page, and see who their friends are.
Hover over each friend image, and it tells you where they are from. And you can contact any of those musicians or bands - whether unknown or famous - for free.
I've found and contacted a lot of local musians that way - perhaps 100 - 150 or so . . .
. . . and for free, btw . . .

Every one of them has music posted for your perusal.
A lot of them are gigging already, looking to gig, want to form a band, want to record, or just want to play along with you.
And every one of them has friends who are also into electronic music.
. . . visit their friends and hover - you'll find even more, and eventually locals . . .
If I spent the time, I could probabaly find 200 electronic music musicians every day of the week.
Contact them (for free), and say, "Hey, I'm XYZ; know of anybody in LA?"
.
It's been my experience with folks in this genre that they are very open-minded.
Message them, tell them you like their music; then tell them you have an offer for them.

I like your style Tanya!

All three Tanyas! :-)

The elctronica musicians I know are in Colorado though.

But I'll send a message and see if they know anyone in CA for you!
