Just wondering...

How many people have actually found new members or people to do compilations with based on this website? In the couple weeks that I have been a member now, I've become frustrated by my lack of ability to communicate with anyone on the site because I don't have extra money to throw at it, and even with putting two different means of contact on my profile, I've still only heard from one person because of this website... I'm starting to question if I should upgrade my account.. but is it really worth it? does it really get you anymore hits or is it just a waste of money?

The original drummer in my band found me by paying the $9 a month or whatever it was to upgrade his account so he could send out e-mails and start contacting people.

I think if you're just hoping people find you, you're going to be disappointed. But if you want to be pro-active about it, upgrade your account for a month and start contacting people.

I have received several contacts from Bandmix members but through my personal website that I listed on my description. I think only one inquiry though this parent website.

Bandmix is trying to compete with features from artist pages like MySpace or listings like Craigslist which is free.

I think bandmix is 8 years too late and missed the boat on this one.

Just make it a free service and just run intelligent adds pertaining to the music industry.

for the price of a pack of guitar strings and a box of 10 guitar picks.. you can be a full member and contact anyone you want.

If you are so broke that you can't afford $10 to put together a band, then maybe you're too broke to be in a band?

Just trying to help with perspective.

But you can get that same service with other sites that are free.

........ Like the myspace links on your sig.

Anyway, if you got the cash, why not.

One of the key components here (and it's free) is to post your music (which you did) (sorta-in utube video form) to give people an idea of what your genre is. However, the you tube links that you posted I found illegible and could not listen to due to the extreme distortion of the recordings. Another thing is to properly fill out the forms and you will receive (also for free) local musicians in your area. I have been contacted quite a few times, thanks to this site. Cheers and good luck.

I've been contacted and contacted numerous people on Bandmix. I'm presently rehearsing with a guitarist I found here (aguitarsupreme). I'd say it's definitely been worth it for me...

I have actually met one person who was just learning to play the guitar. But through her, I met a composer. I recently saw him in a guest role a TV show. I think that is pretty cool. I enjoy coming here and connecting with various musicians and getting to know them. So , I feel like I am getting my money's worth. I am hangin' with other musicians who are not affiliated with BM.

For all the replies, even the not so positive ones.

The videos that I posted really do suck as far as sound quality, and I wish I had some better sources to put up examples of what we had done in the past but I don't have anything. They were more to get an idea of the sound we had (despite the crappy video quality) and what we'd like to aim towards in the future.

I may upgrade in future to message others on here, my concern is that I don't really see a whole lot of musicians in my area when I do the searches, at least ones that are interested in music other than country. nothing wrong with that, just not the sound we're looking for.

Thanks again!

It took me every day for five months.
