Schmed-

You'd be surprised @ the # of people sticking to analog (tape & vinyl). Google 'lifespan of CD-R' and I think you'll understand why. I already have some older CDs going bad.

I stick with cassettes because I completely let the computer thing pass me by. I need to find the most remedial class on this stuff I can find. Just me and some WWI vets, learning what everyone else did in the 80's.
I've come to prefer the sound of cassettes over time, too*.

*if they're recorded by me, not those crapola prerecorded ones.

Tape dries out over time, and its much harder to recover an old tape that is ready to disintegrate!

Copy all your CD-Rs to a solid state drive. You can get 1-2 TB now for $60-$80 - a TB is enough for over 1200 filled CD-R's worth of music/data.

I only find hybrid drives, that only have a solid state cache, for that kind of price.

USB 'hard drives' are no longer spinning discs, they're solid state, that's what I was talking about (not SATA drives).
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W8XXYSM/ref ... B00FRHTTJE - 2Tb for $88. I got a 1 Tb version of this same thing for $56 on fleabay.
