Phil OUR GOVT is wiping out the small business people.
Sorry you got it all wrong.
If you need examples you have to tell me you you have enough time to read a book.
How about one of my customers... A B.D. 50 thousand in local property taxes just to keep his doors open,,,, thats a whole bunch of soda.
I dont see anyone helping him.
5 empty store fronts to everyone 5 that are trying to stay in business.
And you have the balls to blame that on corporate America.
C'mon Phil,, I know you got a brain in your head. Please use it.
We need smart people like you and that is NOT my being sarcastic.
That is not attacking you personally in anyway, and I think you are a tremendous musician. We need to get big govt off everyones back.

You are not going to stop corp America from succeding, they are driven by the need to put food on the table and that includes the millions of Americans that have allready written off social security and are counting on these corporations to make certain their 401Ks will allow them to retire with dignity. EVEN IF OUR GOVT FAILS TO LIVE UP TO NEW DEAL.
Let me see,,, 1 vote for Philby,,,300 million for succesfull retirement, after social security collapses.

You claim the gov't is wiping out the small biz-man, yet support the mega-corp's that own the gov't & force the taxes & legislation that's killing him.

Sorry, Glen, but that just seems a little odd to me.

Yep, there are a helluva lot of small businesses going under. Outrageous taxes are part of the problem. I believe I said I wouldn't overtax any co making less than a billion a year, Glen. Who's causing these unfair taxes?

Well, look around you. Has your WalMart or Target, your 711 or your gas stations gone under? How about your Lowes or Home Depot? Are they in jeopardy?

No they are not, & there's your answer. They are the ones causing it. They are using those ppl they bought out to raise taxes to the point that small guys cannot make it, even as they drop thier prices so that he cannot really compete. When all the small guys are gone, THEN watch out! You'll see REAL economic slavery, then!

Look at the WalMart model, which Craig is fond of. They price thier goods so that they only make thier huge profits through incredible volume of sales. How can they assure that volume? Only one way, Glen - they must be the only game in town. So your 5 & dimes are gone in favor of your WalMart, Target & KMart. Your town businesses lost thier business. Thier store is an empty hole in your town center that no one can use for anything but office space. The rent on that property must go down in order for anyone to be able to afford it. The chain goes on, with many ppl losing in favor of the new robber barons. Your town center is not a center for anything anymore save illicit drug trafficking & prositution, but that's alright as long as WalMart's raking in those huge bucks & offering only strawberry Pop Tarts cuz that's what thier stats tell them that the country wants, so if you want blueberry you're SOL.

Only a "handful" huh? ;-)

Ever hear of a best selling book called "The Millionaire Next Door"?

That book was written, decades ago, because the authors realized just how widespread MILLIONAIRES were in America. So common in fact, that there was a good chance, statistically, that your NEIGHTBOR (someone living near you) was a millionaire themselves. They might not brag about it always to their friends, or even their families, but per capita, America had the most MILLIONAIRES per capita, than any other major country.

When that book was written, it was estimated that more than One Percent of the population were millionaires! That means that ONE out of EVERY HUNDRED citizens of this country, were millionaires.

Decades later, it is now estimated that THREE PERCENT of the population are millionaires! That means THREE out of EVERY HUNDRED citizens of America, are millionaires!

Phil... There are almost 9 MILLION MILLIONAIRES in this country!

Far more, than... a "handful" my friend! :-)

These mega corp's need to be held in check.

Yes, any LARGE corporation must be regulated to some degree, and corruption punished severely. Start with electing candidates who believe in Campaign Finance Reform (McCain has always been a big proponent of that, which is why I have always voted for him, when he has run for President - He's too past his prime now though) Find the "New McCains" out there... honest politicians with strong character, who believe in eliminating corruption in government, and passing legislation like campaign finance reform... people like... Sarah Palin! :D

You know what...

Give me THAT kind of Capitalist "slavery" EVERY DAY!!!

It is "capitalist slavery" like that, which has created 3 MILLIONAIRES out of EVERY HUNDRED citizens!!! America was known for a long while as the ONLY NATION ON EARTH that had more than ONE MILLION MILLIONAIRES! Now, we are the ONLY NATION ON EARTH that has 9 MILLION MILLIONAIRES!!!!

If you think that is "Capitalist Slavery" then gee... Capitalist Slavery must be working damn well, huh? ;-)

There is NOTHING TO ARGUE here, because you cannot find, more widespread wealth in any other major nation of the world!

You can be angry... even delusional if you choose... but the FACTS speak for themselves Phil.

The FACTS are UNDENIABLE!

Now... STOP BITCHING about living in THE GREATEST NATION ON EARTH... and start learning how YOU can cash in on our country's great opportunities for prosperity!

Sure, Craig, there have been a lot of millionares made through the last 30 years, with the dot-coms in the 90's & the real estate boom up until the Bush years, but the days of ripping ppl off with those tactics have all been pretty much nipped in the bud. Watch to see how many new millionares will be made this year, or next, as these conglomerates continue to make it next to impossible for you through new legislation & taxes or outright unfair biz practices.

A millionare ain't what it used to be, Craig. It's *gasp!* upper-middle class these days, NOT "rich."

Big biz doesn't give a damn about America or Americans, Craig. They care about thier bottom line, & to hell with anyone else having a slice of that pie.

Quit defending the indefensible.

I know that sounds a little odd to you Phil, But I would rather trust HESS and 7/11 and any other corp for my retirement ,than the largest corp in the world that is running up debt faster than they can print money and still stealing.

Thank God our govt hasn't been able to put these businesses out. At least we still have some place to spend the pitiful value of our dollars.

obama has been in charge for a year and a couple months. In that time my profit margins have declined . My expenses have gone through the roof.
You voted for the jerk, thankyou Phil you have helped to change the risk reward ratio.
Don't think for a minute this is goona get better for you. obama doesn't give a crap about you.
stupac didn't give a crap about about you.
Its coming Phil and none of it is gonna be good for YOU.
Even Hayden after being abused by our Govt is being carefull....PUT YOUR HEAD IN A HOLE YOU LEAVE YOUR BUTT IN THE AIR.

Phil you can leave your butt in the air ,, but literally and figuratively.....
LEAVE ME OUT OF IT.
Now how about a beer. :)

WalMart has REAL-TIME INVENTORY SOFTWARE that is the ENVY of the world Phil.

It is proprietary, of course, so it is Walmart's property, and serves Wamart primarily, and not K-Mart.

The Strawberry flavor of Pop Tarts you mention (you have been watching Walmart Documentaries - LOL) is a result of this software. Walmart has learned that sales of Strawberry Pop-Tarts go through the roof, when hurricanes and severe weather are heading that area's way... so Walmart employees, monitor weather services, and when a storm is on the way to the Gulf, for example, all the Walmarts in that area, are IMMEDIATELY sent large quantities of Strawberry Pop Tarts!

This software is one of the reasons that Walmart stores are almost ALWAYS stocked up, with what most customers are looking for! Know how frustrating it is, to go to a store only to find that they ARE OUT of the product you need?

Walmart is MORE SUCCESSFUL at NOT having that problem occur, than ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT STORE - IN THE WORLD!!!

This is what AMAZES and yet... UPSETS me, about you Phil. What you attack as something wicked (Walmart stocking up on Strawberry Pop Tarts during hurricanes) is actually WHAT IS SO WONDERFUL and SUCCESSFUL about Walmart!

But here is what you don't understand Phil...

You think of Walmart as some independent conglomerate that benefits no one else but themselves! The REALITY, is that Walmart has literally THOUSANDS of vendors that it purchases products from! And many of these are AMERICAN VENDORS selling MEGA-MERCHANDISE VOLUME through Walmart's MEGA VOLUME of STORES worldwide!

The software I mentioned?

It aids these vendors GREATLY too!

How?

Well, Walmart's amazing software, works in REAL-TIME, and these Vendors can CALL WALMART any time of day, and IMMEDIATELY be given REAL-TIME stats on HOW well their merchandise is selling, and WHERE it is selling best, and WHICH lines of their products are selling best! So that they can know, that the "Kim" doll of the "Crazy Kids" line of dolls, is selling best, but in New Jersey, the "Bob" doll sells best there for some reason!

This information not only benefits the company for it's WALMART sales, but for it's sales of this product TO ANY OTHER STORE OUTLETS! In other words... the information gleaned from WALMART can then be used, to help that vendor sell his product better at K-Mart or Target or anywhere else! It also saves the company from wasted inventory sitting on shelves and not being used! The company does not have to spend unnecessary amounts of capital making as many Bob dolls, as Kim dolls, because they have REAL-TIME information... courtesy of WALMART, that shows them they should make 10 million units of Kim doll, and only 5 million units of Bob doll, and 6.5 million units of all the other dolls in that line!

Walmart is benefiting MANY COMPANIES with it's success, as well as benefiting it's customers, and even... AMERICA'S bottom line itself! Thank God WALMART is an American Company, and not a European Company!

philbymon wrote:

See?

WRONG!!!!

You are NOT SOL on "ANYTHING".

Walmart still has plenty of Blueberry for you brother!

They have simply increased their Strawberry Pop Tarts, because there is a hurricane coming to your area, and they have stocked up, so they can provide YOU plenty of product! Thanks to their software, they know that MORE OF YOU buy huge amounts of Strawberry Pop Tarts when bad weather comes! They don't know "why" everyone wants Strawberry, but they know, that YOU DO! And they will be prepared for you, and NOT wasted your drive to their store, only to find they were sold out of Strawberry... YESTERDAY!!!

Thank you Walmart!

A WONDERFUL AMERICAN SUCCESS STORY!!!

Hmm... I might even go there, when I get off the computer!

Your statements MAKE NO SENSE, and are RARELY based in facts!

How would the "bottom line" for these companies be, if the entire country was poor Phil? And then couldn't buy their products? Wealth only benefits these big corporations. They want Americans to have plenty of money, to buy their products!

And competing companies, want their fair share too, that is why creativity and good business savvy rules, and there will ALWAYS be start-ups that have the new idea, and make their fortunes, seemingly overnight, when their ideas (Amazon.com - Google - MySpace - Twitter, etc...) take hold!

It is CHILD'S PLAY to defend the TRUTH, when you have FACTS backing you up Phil. Your doom and gloom, is what is indefensible. When I present you with the FACTS about success in America, then you run away, and just claim... Well, "That won't last long Craig!"

Stop trashing our great nation Phil!

There is NO OTHER NATION on Earth, where success from nothing, is more possible, than THIS COUNTRY!

Craig I love your graphics.
Phil you just don't get it.
I WANT YOU TO MAKE MORE MONEY AND BE SUCCESFUL.

Our govt is not gonna send you a check for 50 grand and pat you on the back for being a good citizen.

On the other hand,, if you owned enough McDONALDS stock they would send you a check for 50 grand and say thankyou for believing in our CORPORATION.

It's so simple , and you keep arguing for your own limitations. STOP THAT SHOOT , and move on , you're a freakin great guy and I am sure that Craig would agree with me.

I just want to see us all grow and prosper. Looking back I feel this govt has been against me and many people for a long time.

P.S. stupac will go down in history as a minor traitor to my Constitution. SHAME ,SHAME, SHAME. This is the sort of leaders that we have running my govt right now,,,, NOVEMBER IS COMING.

So, you think it best that we leave big biz alone...should it not be regulated better than it's been?

Example - Goldman Sachs paid out $16 billion in bonuses in January, for 2009. Here it is, April, & this month, they are paying out 5.4 billion in, you guessed it, bonuses. Meanwhile, they are being indicted for fraud. It seems that they've been selling bad stocks, that were designed to fail, while they've been promoting them, even though they were privy to the info that these were bad stocks, desigbed to fail. Seems that there have been some investors being ripped off, as these guys get thier fee whether or not thier info is good. The stuff that they've done that's LEGAL is often questionable from a moral standpoint, but this? And they still give out bonuses, at whose expense?

This is the kind of activity that makes ppl very rich: when they can bilk the largest # of ppl in one fell swoop, & pay a relatively small fine if they get caught. The thieves have been paid off with bonuses. The money is not there to return to the investors. The VP's got thiers & are running with it, even though they were the ppl that made the decisions to rip off thier customers.

But let's keep our hands off these ppl! Heaven only knows what might happen if we regulate them! It'll RUIN the economy, right?

All I want is to have enough.
No one gets rich without stepping on some throats, or inheriting money from ancestors that have done some throat stepping.
Except for the occasional lottery winner.
- But you know what?... Has anyone ever audited a multi-state lottery?
Maybe they hire a couple actors or pay some people off to play the part of the winner or winners.

Has anyone ever personally known a lotto winner?

Furthermore, has any one ever gotten a call to answer a 'survey' from Family Fued?

And why is it that Burger King is constantly trying to push their cookies on you, and it just so happens that they 'just came out of the oven', no matter when you go through the druve-thru?
I doubt they even have ovens.

How come credit card companies get to push your balance over their own imposed 'limit' if you get behind, then proceed to suck your blood with 'fees' and and jacked up interest rate?

And when do I get to start charging people 'fees' for everything?
