It's in the high 60's here in Vegas.. Freaking BEAUTIFUL weather here today.

Before you start getting all jealous and stuff. Just remember, that can be scary in a different way. Sometimes that means that it can reach 110- 115 degrees for over a month when Summer rolls around.

Interesting...I only read the last couple of pages, but it looks like a lot of us got hit by the weather that's been freezing my butt off the past few days. Got down to 20 here a couple of nights, no fun with no utilities and therefore no heater. I'm just glad I have a good blanket and know how to stay warm under it. Found out years ago if you wear nothing the blanket holds a lot more body heat than if you have clothes or pajamas on.

Daytime it didn't get above 35 or so the past 4 or 5 days, usually with a stiff wind, it's been downright unfriendly weather. No snow, but did have to scrape ice off the windshield a couple of times.

Had to comment on this one -

I would like to vist England but they wont let me on the plane with my trusty S&W.

Which is exactly what they SHOULD allow...all the hijackers that have plagued the airlines the past 30 years or more are essentially cowards, if they knew just one person on the plane was armed and ready, no planes would get hijacked. Same as burglars, muggers etc, they want unarmed, defenseless victims. Easy targets. A plane full of armed citizens would be the safest one on the planet...at least where hijackers are concerned, because they wouldn't even think about trying it. They do it because they KNOW nobody is armed and ready to defend the plane. And the government is working hard to keep it that way.

Your tax dollars at work...

Are we all feeling better now as regards the weather? Looks as though we may be in for a rough ride this year doesn't it? No point in mending the Gazebo then!

East Texas is so green right now. Mid 60's to low 70's am 90 or so afternoons, cooling back into the 70's as the sun sets. Nice breese almost every day. The rains have been gentle and adiquate.
Yet Texas sumer is on it's way, HOT

Right now POURING rain like a waterfall with dime sized hail mixed in, some thunder. Last night the weathermen all said we weren't going to get any precip until late evening (it's been raining since 9:00 this morning).

Tellin yah. I live somewhere really special. Yesterday this monster storm was just about 5 miles away according to Google. You could see it getting dark.

Just then a gust (apparently) took this blob way south of us and nothing happened. Well it is NJ isn't it? Nothing happens here other than hatching plots of US downfall and bombs.

Today we had something special come through but again the wind took it out very quickly. Now its just hot and humid.

Appparently the Kansas City metro area is one of the very hardest places on Earth to predict the weather. I've lived here since 1987 and I know almost instinctively when bad weather is coming. Whenever we have tornado watches if the wind is blowing constantly in one direction we almost never have any severe weather. If it's hardly blowing at all then WATCH OUT. I told my wife last night I knew we were in for bad weather today, not this evening. I didn't like the way the sky looked last night, lots of energy in the clouds. In June of 1996 one evening I was on the way home from doing bids and I saw this absolutely horrible looking cloud bank to the north. I raced home and turned on the weather. Sure enough there was a severe thunderstorm in Leavenworth County which is northwest of here by fifty miles. They kept saying on the news that the storm was moving to the northeast and miss us completely. Except one item they weren't noticing on radar was the southern end of the storm was bulging south. Sure enough the storm took a 90 degree turn and headed straight south. It put out a couple of tornado warnings (about fifty miles west of us) and we got six inches of rain in an hour. Lawrence, Ks which is 40 miles west of us had over ten inches of rain, all from ONE thunderstorm. These storms are very unpredictable...

That really does not surprise me a lot Bob. Being a fisherman, you probably have spent countless hours outdoors observing the weather.
I can generaly predict rain in my area well ahead of the news geeks.
Especially in fall and winter. I have spent so much time outdoors working and hunting / fishing. The thing that throws me the most thoughis the sudden cold fronts. So I always go prepared for weather from 100 to 0. when in the wild.

There was a whole lot of lightning in the air this morning on the drive to work. Odds are we're in for some more this evening, which means the boss (Cin) says "Off WITH THE COMPUTER!.

Later...

We've had a lot of lightning too, blew out the surge protector a while back so everytime I hear thunder I run upstairs to unplug. I had it out with 'the boss' tonite- she wanted to store 50 lbs of in the wet bags beets in the pc/electronics/optics-laser lab-room and i laid down a rule  no food in the lab-room. aw-hail broke loose, but she finally respected my rule. Thats the 1st rule that i ever remember laying down here, but for some reason it was important. She was pissed. I told her to ask the IT guy at her workplace why you cant store fruits/vegeatables in the server room... lol...

Whenever they grade my gravel road, I know it's going to rain, thus washing away any good they might have done, and leave ruts in the road that will be there until the next time. Works like clockwork every damn time!

:) I heard this comedian talking about how, when a weather forecast goes awry, the regular news anchor always gives the weatherman a hard time about it. "Hey, what happened to all that rain we were supposed to get yesterday?" Once I would like to hear the weatherman respond with, "Hey, a$$hole, all you have to do is sit there and read sh*t that's already happened. I'm over here trying to predict the FREAKIN' FUTURE!!!"

I thought that was great. :)

yeah they cant predict the future anymore than we can.. I say caterpillars and peacocks.. they can do it. We had a peacock one time that would put himself up in his house long before the bad weather hit. Also dogs can feel tremors long before an earthquake hits. We humans just dont pay attention to our surroundings and nature. We prefer science and doppler radar.. pieces of sht.. and i like science and electronics.. but they're no match for nature..
