Hey Schmeddy,
I'm going through Phoenix tonight about beer:thirty.
Don't suppose you're out tonight? Wish I could sing, my throat is gone from using house systems last weekend. But probably getting a room in Phoenix on my way to LA
I'll check back in about 9PM

Well the only way to see what it does is to compare. I listened to Court Jester, and I can tell you its pretty 'hissy'. That noise would be in the original recording, but when the volume is boosted by the s/w, it becomes more noticeable.
I'd be checking to see where the noise is coming from - what level are you recording at? Tracking at -18 to -12dBfs is good for digital recording, but if you've got a high noise floor with your equipment, you'd need to track louder (but it sounds like a noisy mic preamp turned up too high to me).
