you ever watch the Piano Guy on PBS? how many of those brilliant guests he has on the show are using charts of any kind? not even cheat sheets.. music theory can be complex if you let it take control, but like the devil, you have to put your heel on it's head and show it who's boss...

You can call me Scott or Scottie/Scotty, that's what most of them do.

There are a few that remember older days and they know a few more names like capt/crapton/black lung starfish/black tar starfish etc.

And some call me names I can't repeat..lol But I am the original Teflon man, cause it all runs off nightly.

I'm not an engineer, I just play one on TV.
I don't know anything about the technical end or should I say very little.
I am a writer, performer and lunatic and probably not in that order.

And I don't ever send people on snipe hunts because writing music is like giving birth and we never want any hard labor because it might make you less interested in giving musical birth next time..

It's my firm belief that nothing in this life will make you happier than a smooth musical birth that comes out alright and doesn't need the proverbial "c" section. (it's always in "g" or "c#") lol

This is the 1st chord on your sheet. I presume that is the one you wanted?

Search for finger pattern = {x 2 5 4 2 2}: 6 results found.

B5add#5add9 B 5th Add Sharp 5th Add 9th
Bsus2#5add12 B Suspended 2nd Sharp 5th Add 12th
Bsus2#5add5 B Suspended 2nd Sharp 5th Add 5th
GM7b5/B G/B Major 7th Flat 5th
C#7#11sus4/B C#/B 7th Sharp 11th Suspended 4th
C#7sus4b5/B C#/B 7th Suspended 4th Flat 5th

There are a zillion sites for this, but I only use the stuff that works and I didn't just fall off the back of the hay-wagon, so you can trust me when I tell you about something like this.

I hope that rather convoluted answer for your chord, works ???

It's a bit more complicated than I thought and most of my chords just pop out with 1 or 2 possibles.

Sorry if that answer is a bit foggy...If I can help you, let me know.
and, the 4th one down is what I originally named it without looking up anything but did not add my G root?

I can operate the machinery but I couldn't tell you if it's right or wrong.

Not without playing with it a little, I have my usual checks and balances..but my guitar is in the vault yet.. lol

the problem that i have with almost all of those choices is they are clearly guitar-centric. written by (and likely most clearly understood by gtrsts).

i can't imagine any studied keyboardist or hornman/woman using those.

for instance that ex. GM7b5/B or G/B Major 7th Flat 5th ....

again...dane's chord is B G B C# F# if you're gonna reckon it as some kind of "G" chord (above i called it GM7#11) it's just plain incorrect to refer to the C# as a flat 5th.

why? because you must account for all the scale degrees (numbers...root, second, third, etc).

the G Maj scale that uses a C# in it is the lydian mode....which is built off of a D Maj scale starting on "D's" 4th note G.

G A B C# D E F#

so if you account for all the letter names/scale degrees/numbers.....and look at the scale above you can clearly see the C# is the 4th (same as 11th) and the 5th is D.

in the chord in question, if you call the C# a flat 5th, then you'd also have the "D"...a regular 5th (clumsy and unwieldy having both)...but more importantly you've overlooked the 4th (or 11th) degree. and that's a no-no.

and there are similar problems in some of the other chord names they supplied.

Chords are not defined based on "oh, this the lowest note".
It's not a new chord, it's an inversion.

If it has an F in the bass, then it has an F in the bass. So what.

The belief that there are hundreds of chords is an illusion - there's only a small body of chords, with alterations and inversions...

The grumpy man has spoketh.
