Wow, once again the deficient US public school system fails..."Unregulated capitalism" is the statism that the constitution and the founding fathers were trying to protect the republic from? I don't think I've ever in my life heard a statement as upside down, backward, and downright stupid as that.

I don't recall that statement being made, but there have been laws in place - anti-trust & anti-monopoly laws, for about a century - that are not being enforced. You can see it every time there's a rise in gas prices or food prices. You can see it when that new superstore moves in & wipes out all of its competition. We're seeing it in other areas, as well, now. This trend is getting to be the norm, & we, the ppl , need protection from rampant "capitalism" as much as we need it from terrorism, though for other reasons, obviously.

Phil, do you truly believe you need protection from terrorism?

Umm....er....yes?

If & when I visit the nation's capital, which is a mere hour & a half away, that will be a concern. (I do that very rarely.)

Yes, terrorism is a concern for us all, even you. There's been a lot of sabre-rattling going on, & that's often followed by the usual bombing.

Why would you even ask this? Both of our countries have been hit more than once. Are you saying that we shouldn't care about it, that we should let them carry on with it, or that it isn't something that should bother us?

Since 9/11, our country has become very concerned about it. Before then, it was always something that happened elsewhere, not anything that we need concern ourselves about. We've had a taste of it, & want no more of it, ANYWHERE. We've also had our fair share of home-grown American terrorists - the unibomber, Oklahoma City, the DC area snipers, & such.

Yeah, it's something I & mine need protection from.

Sorry Phil, you are woefully ignorant of how free markets work, and what really affects retail and commodity prices. Another poster mentioned the "unregulated capitalism" straw man that so many other uninformed citizens have been conditioned to accept. I don't have time or the inclination to educate here, I would suggest you do some research into Ludwig Von Mises and the Austrian school of economics, the business cycle, the federal reserve, fiat currency, and the failure of the theories of John Maynard Keynes in the modern financial era.

"Terrorism"-lol...you've bought into that bullshit.

I don't really think I'm all that uninformed. Those laws were written for a reason, because once you have those trusts & monopolies, "capitalism" no longer even exists. There is no market competition, which is the basis for capitalism, is it not?

Sorry Phil, but we are finally getting back to the route of this thread. Look at the title of this this thread, it's a question, one answer is that your enemy is a lot closer to home than you think.
