Yall know its futile to try and suppress speech on this site a (Or for that matter any where in America). Planet guy, I truly respect you, but I see here a feller trying to excise control over what other folks choose to express. Not gonna happen bro! You cant legislate others speech (unless you are a brutal dictator and your WMD cache includes Justien Bieber CDs ) .

Even the mother-ship recognizes this and is typically hands off..

Some folks, close to us all, have taken a few bullets to their skulls, have been brutally tortured, or had their bodies ripped and mangled in half by 50 cal chainsaws, just so You, Me, Glen could all have the freedom (from govt or other leveraged entities) to speak our minds without recourse.

Glenn, as you already know...All free speech is good, but not all free speech is wise.

Having said that, Its prolly not cool to drag peoples mothers into a verbal joust ... I would still defend your right to do it...But, I could never guarantee your absolution on that particular form of speech. (Cause I cant legislate how others take it)

As a general rule, when I verbally jousted before , I tended to go for the jugular. But a young lady on the site pointed out to me that I do not have to go for the jugular <SP>. And she was right... So now I 'try' to joust with more reason and logic. Makes for better audience entertainment Who would have thought?

My advice to all members of BM, who have difficulty with the language, and/or the Spartan level tactics of dialog here... And/or who take offense to dirty pictures of their mothers and wives...

Therein lies the dilemma, Mike...

On the innernet... One can never tell what an insult is comprised of... I've seen some pretty slick diatribes here, where person (A) laid down sardonic, passive insults and person (B) mistook them as bonafide compliments...

Not all insults are typed. In some cases, the omission of key comments... equates to a slap in the face..

For example, Have you ever noticed , how on this site, some particular folks soak up the musical attention of other members, and expect those members to explore their music? But, damned if they ever take the time to explore yours? Its all over this site. Its not a sin, but it 'could' be construed as 'insulting'...and passive-aggressive personality types are highly inclined to behave that way.

"Manliness" on the innernet, has as much meaning, as warranty information on a cracker-jack prize. Truthfully, I don't know with complete certainty who's being for real, or who is just farting around. We are left to reconcile Gender ID of others, and we simply could be getting hoodwinked.

It is my staunchest opinion, that "ANYTHING" we do on the net, is actually silly. Even Bill -Pay...

dog , thanks for weighing in here. first off no worries....i've no Bieber cds in my arsenal and if i did i would only use 'em as a last resort.

secondly, i have to clear something up.....i was not advocating that anyone give up their right of free speech. nor was i advocating censure from the mothership.

people most absolutely get to say what they want here. i was merely using MY right of free speech to advocate MY views about making crass and crude comments about family members, and suggesting that perhaps we can be civilized enough not to go down that road.

others might agree that kind of behavior is out of bounds (i'd guess most here...since i've never seen ANY other posts/threads, even the most heated and contentious, where insults of a sexual nature were hurled at anyone's family members)

and still other's are more troubled by my use of the word "folks" than they are at a sexual slur hurled at someone's mom.

in any case...i was not trying to lay down an edict, dictate policy, or institute a new tax for said offense.

much in the same way as when i asked folks (sorry vamp....i know how that that word vexes you) to show some respect and a little restraint and not wax political in mike's thread about his loss.

damn, was that SO hard to say? thank you p dog for being the ONE person to concede that. i find it very difficult to believe that Jeff Haley, YOD, Mr. Scott, and any number of others believe it's cool to talk trash on someone's mom....since they never have...but they're choosing to sit this one out.
