Craig, your point was not a shot at the music like the "beer bonging, fart lighting" remark. That is what rubbed me the wrong way..

I agree with you, some genres fade out... but I think Metal is is very alive and going strong, and will be for more than just a few years. ;)

If a vocalist can scream and only scream... yes he is limited and may be short lived in the music scene.. but if he can sing too and mix it up... there will be a place in metal for him for quite a while imo...

I agree with that, especially if screaming is done to enhance the singing, rather than the other way around.

Screaming may survive a little longer than disco, because the disco look itself, was cartoonish. Screamer bands usually don't have any predefined look. They usually look like any other metal or alternative band. Haven't seen any with feather boas, sunglasses the size of their heads, white 3 piece suits, or glittery spandex. LOL

Man, I'm good at throwing gasoline on a raging fire, aren't I.

Let's try this approach. Screaming is an arrow in the quiver of a rock/pop singer, the way I see it. It can be done well to benefit the song, or it can just be annoying and boring. It all depends on how the vocalist uses it.

To take one facet of vocalization and say thats all you do is like being a "pedalist" in the world of piano - limiting your interraction with instrument based on how well you work the sustain pedal. Sustain is a part of good playing, not the other way around.

Robert Plant screamed alot too. Still does, which is pretty good for guy in his 60s. But he also possesses an amazing singing voice.

THAT is the difference.

The mother of all bitchin' screaming growlers was the late "Wendy O Williams".
I've seen a few great ballsy singers in my day , But Wendy and the "Plasmatics" topped them all ! Long live all forms of art!

Hoooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwlin' :!:

P.S. I agree with all of you to a certain extent.

Yes, that is well thought out and not insulting. :)

I am loving reading this. All you old hairballs all getting your underwear in a knot is funnier than the original thread.

And the same goes for all you cheerio eating little 2 bits, covering iron man and Sabbath tunes for the 1000000000x time.

You wanna cry, well let's get down to it.

Some of us bitch when anyone says anything they don't like. That's the cheering section. They all love to throw the lettuce, but it's ok. I like to hear the remarks, good bad or indifferent. It's a faqing forum, by definition it's a place where people can say what they think, right or wrong. GET USED TO IT. You don't have to agree with it, you just have to realize that people can say what they want without your permission.

Some of us bitch when we hear stuff that we don't like. They are the "nay sayers". I am a nay sayer. Screamo is not the same as metal. I say no to screamo. Metal is at least passable, well if it isn't fing Iron Man or Sweet leaf. I mean, listen to a new album for gods' sake. The stuff is tired and been covered by people plenty better than you.

Some of us think it is our duty to preserve the reputation of the underdog. That's the "would be heroes." We have a lot of them, mostly the old people that play the same stuff over and over again hoping that someone will think it's worthwhile.

Did I miss anyone?

I mean I may be unduly negative, but I have to laugh at the utter morons.

It's a forum and as long as you understand it's an opinion, why do you have to cry about it like a little bitch?

Cheers to the old guy who still cries about that Christian music woman. Did you think she was going to give it up for you? That's a laugh and then some. If you can't get laid in real life, you aren't going to do it online.

Cheers to the cretin still playing old Sabbath. You don't want to know what I think of that and I don't care what you think, so whatever you might say is A-ok by me, jr. It's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Cheers to the screamo guy. I don't like it. I like metal, but I don't like that. If you don't like my opinion, ignore it like a good adult or aren't you an adult?

In any case feel free to ignore whatever you like, just don't sit there and cry like your pu**y hurts. Over half of the teen wannabe bitch squad, doesn't have the right equipment, but they may try Midol anyway.

I hate country and western as well. Want to cry some more?

I hate punk music, I think it's an unskilled version of music. Want to cry some more?

There is a lot I don't like and no I don't go around saying so on every thread, but it seems like a few are more than happy to cry at a moments notice. It's an opinion and try as you might, you can't take that away from anyone regardless of the lack of brain power you seem to exhibit.

I have heard some crap on this site I didn't like and a whole bunch of people asking for opinions on their music, except what they really mean is they want the positive and not the negative. So all you people out there, better keep your negative criticisms to yourself or someone may cry. LOL

As if anyone gave a sh*t. I figured this out early, thus I post nothing here now. Why bother?

Ok...

Umm...

Just came to say...I posted a cover of In Flames' "Take This Life" on my profile. Don't pay attention to the little parts where I sing cause the key was too high and I was struggling a little. Just focus on the screams. Listen to the whole thing too, cause the best part is during the last 15 seconds.

That's...all I wanted to say...

Captain Scott...Please don't eat me...

Could of used you at the show last night Ryan. The singer/screamer of the band that opened for us lost his voice after the first song and they ended up just doing instrumentals for their set.

Ryan, very cool, I had to listen twice!

Craptain stop sh*tting on people's threads. You obviously have nothing to contribute and as you stated, no one really cares what you think.

No wonder they dump bodies in Jersey.

Jimmy, the only thing funnier than your lack of intelligence is your lack of creativity.

You can quit asking me anything, fact is I don't care what you think or what you play. From the stones to the bones, it matters not to me.

But keep trying to convince the world, I applaud your lost cause.

I remember seeing a slo-mo video of the human voicebox and what happens to it during various sounds - one of the was a scream.

Not pretty. Imagine doing that regularly, and you'll see why later in life they can barely talk, or end up with ugly ass nodules, cysts or tumors on the larynx.

Irminsul, I can understand that. We were worried about our own guy. This was the first time he's ever performed on stage and he was practicing every night for the past week. He did great on the screaming parts but I could definitely hear him straining on the singing parts of the songs.
