I don't really hear any of those 'like ...' bands, and I'm a fan of all of them. The sound is more garage band 80s on most songs, although a couple are more 'pop'. I think you may be confusing distorted/fuzz guitar with Hendrix. His sound was a raw bluesy soul sound (with occasional melodic picked guitar, like 'Castles Made of Sand'), nothing at all like this band.
The mixes could all benefit from a good mastering - some compression to pull them together. The lead singer's (sorry, is that your brother?) voice needs some processing to make it sit into the music better.

There's no "exposure" there, or any of the independent streaming sites - or the 'corporate' sites either (like here, bandcamp, soundcloud). Even places like Spotify - unless one of your songs gets picked up on some popular blog/songlist, the only people who will listen are the ones who already know about you.

Well Negative Tendencies doesn't appeal to all tastes. Not my boyfriend, my brother. It's for the kind of person that their favorite bands are Beatles, Stones, Who and Led Zep.

Not a fan of the Who so much, but those other 3 are still may favorites since the 70s.

Now I get why you're a fan of Negative Tendencies. Honesty is so refreshing these days!? You have more guts than most I've seen here, not afraid to take on the hard questions without being offended or jerkish about it.

I commend you on having a vision and going for it. I'll be happy to send people your way that fit what your doing.

Most of the hardcore indie folk I've met like myself are in it for the music, not really too involved with expecting money.

They will be when they've got more experience and want a payoff for their investment of time and money. Speaking of hard-core, I made all the music videos for Pantera when they were a glam band in the 80s with Terry Lee as their singer, and was there when they decided to go hardcore with Phil Anselmo, though I never met him. They were designed from the ground up to make money by Darrel and Vinnie's dad. They were always in it for the music, but having lots of fun doing that and making $$$ too. It's really not an either/or situation.

I promised them I would never release those once they went huge, but that didn't stop others, so here are some crappy copies that someone uploaded to YouTube.

yes there are usually more artists than real listeners but IMP gets more real listeners than most because of the station aspect which is why I'm there.

Don't let any discouraging words spoken here slow you down. You're on the right track and your brother is lucky to have you helping him.

The videos are better than the songs.

It would take more than these guys got to discourage me. :D

Remember it was 1988. They were a glam band and trying to be America's version of Def Leopard meets Van Halen at the time. They got a record deal for that version of the band and the singer's dad wouldn't let him sign it, so they went hardcore with Anselmo instead. I was an atheist at the time and when they told me Phil was a satanist, I asked why they were doing religious music? LOL

It would take more than these guys got to discourage me. :D

I agree here. Hendrix is psychedelic blues. It's not Pop and it isn't Garage Rock. I don't even consider it Rock in it's purest form. It was blues taken to the outer limits of the mind. I chalk this up to 'perspective' and we definitely have a different 'perspective' about music.

This is what I was trying to get across in my last post. If you are a Pop or Garage band wanting some exposure, Eve's Place may be the place to park your stuff. If not, find the best fit for your music.

I'm finding this out dealing w/ the video people. When you deal w/ people, check 'em out. I'm not dealing w/ rappers and hip-hop guys if I want a 'best fit' for my music. Why?? I don't do Rap or Hip-Hop. Nothing against it, I just don't get into it so I have to shop the market for the 'best fit'.

IMP has all genres, and also has country acts the likes of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson.

Eve, if i may... i'd like to make an observation. I believe that to some you come off as shill for this band because your participation on this board has been strictly limited to this thread. Clearly you have some intelligent views on music...it sure would be nice to have one other member who is willing and ready to talk music. :D

Hey now Mark, only 19 of her posts have been in this thread - less than half! Of course there were 7 posts she had on 'what sites to you upload to", which were promoting the IMP site, too ... and she hasn't posted in any other thread since July 18 ...
