I totally agree with that definition, also...
The problem is than none of the contemporary politicians, and entertainers actually fit that definition...
My grand folks were true liberals. They'd give you shirt off their backs...take the time to show you how to make your own shirts, and would give you all the moral support you needed.
Today, it s a bunch of dickheads, posing as liberals. Guys like Bill Maher, who don't really give a f u c k about you and your needs, or humanity. They are self-centered, oblivious to the pains of others, But they pose like they are you coolest friend...
Real liberals are honest.
Today's poser are not. They are highly disingenuous. Penny wise, pound foolish... They would gladly quibble over the petty s h i t , and watch the world explode into pieces, just for the satisfaction of telling others they 'knew all along" that it was coming. That's how desperate they are.
I totally agree that many of today's "liberals" are nothing but posers, particularly the asshats in Washington.
At best, many are moderate conservatives.
For all the bitching the right made about Clinton and Obama, they actually govern more as moderate Republicans than Democrats.
It's been said that Richard Nixon was America's last liberal president, and I sadly agree.
As corrupt an opportunist as he was, he really did govern America more like a liberal.
Even his arch-nemesis Hunter S. Thomson said he'd rather have Nixon back than what we've got now.
Practically every president has been more regressive than their predecessors until, we're left with "black Bush."
BTW, idiots who praise both Reagan AND Kennedy, polar opposites, have their head so far up their ass that they see through their mouths.
