They are the amongst the nicest guitars to play, just haven't found one that suits tonally yet as they all seem to be single coils in the shops I've visited....my missus has a cheap squire strat, plays awesome, sound's like sh!t.

Warmoth and other custom guitar sites offer Strat pickguards with the HSS configuration. You can also get a HSH or a HH cut pick guard. I use a Dimarzio super Distortion on the bridge on three of my Strats. I also wire my single coils in a humbucking mode. With the right pickup you can get a really hard sound out of a Strat. Some of my Strats sound similar to my Tele.

American made standard Strats have some of the most identifiable sounds and tones to my ears. The only thing close the Jag and Tele.

Hey Jhava,

I really like Be Here Tonight. You have some really tight rhythm chops and lead going on in that track. It appears you lean towards the melodic country licks a bit. I like that style of chops.

Ha Slacker thanks... call it a fluke!

I saw your comment on Moonlight.. I'll post it with the vocal it may give you a better idea of where some licks could fit. I do agree it does need some re-work maybe I'll add a bridge for a lil change-up.

I have to differ Dude. Good chops and good taste are never a fluke. :) :)

Yeah, I've no doubt a Strat through a heavy amp will sound heavy, it's just I haven't found a Strat in me local shops with humbuckers and a decent amp to play through ;)

If I could just borrow one for a night with me amp and band haha

On a side note, after trying me pedalboard out and achieving an awesome tone (my own holy grail) that rides between a hard rock and metal tone I was looking into getting Seymour Duncan Mayhem's on me other guitar to rid myself of the slight "flabby" sound of the JB's on my Epi SG when palm muted and have found the Boss NS-2 kills that flabbyness anyway, hmmm. Saved cash there then heh heh.

And yep, tone does come greatly from the fingers too, though I would say the amp and gear tone all has a large part to play too. It's a symbiosis of variables. Quite a few of the metal guitarists just play the low note around here, whilst though it is me main ballpark, I like to throw highr notes in with my chords also trying to emulate a two guitars situation, I always reference Slash and Izzy on Appetite (though our songs don't sound like that awesome album of course), anyways, long story short, there's been a few in these parts say they can recognise my playing over others...a great compliment I have to say :)

I do still like a raw Les Paul tone., dirty w/verb..
unmistakable, when folks like GAry moore are behind it

gotta say Eric Johnson roks with his strat setups too, clean and dirty

course, when I started hearing BB King...man, sometimes Lucille is just magic..

So far, for me though I haven't owned TONS of electrics, the one that's given me a huge palette of tones was
a Purple 1989 Ibanez RG-550..

Now I play an 87' of the same model...love em

All I have amp-wise is a fender s/state, though my DAW offers tons of goodies..

I've always used Marshall and Fender amps with my Strat's but I picked up a late 80's Mesa 50 Caliber a few months back and I like it so much that I've been using it in the studio.

AAAAAAH... That explains the good things coming from your guit.

I love MESA. I guess its all overtones and complete spectral sound....

But most of the time I'm just talking nonsense about this because nobody else hears it. oh well.

I would say you're right on Glenn Mike kicks azz!
One of the best players that floats around here and really versatile.
He could play through a little transistor speaker and make it rock!
Love his playing!

Thanks Glen and Jahva! I work at a music store selling guitars and amps so I get to play with the toys whenever I want. If you guys ever get a chance try the Marshall Plexi with a good Strat. One of the best amps for classic rock and blues in my opinion. I have a short sample on my page with the Plexi and my SE Clapton Strat.

I like that Mike. What the heck is a Marshall Plexi? You had a lot of effect on but that was very cool Tone overall. 8)

OK no wonder,,, That head is only $2500.
If you get a chance to try that fractual audio amp, I think its called the ATOMIC. Let me know what you think of that. It's all transistor but it is supposed to be as good as tube.(I don't believe it)

The problem with all the hundred watt heads is you have to let them scream once in a while. I don't know of any place big enough. In other words these newer amps these days are pretty amazing

I wish I could find a 10 watt Mesa that I could crank past ...2

Went to see a friend's band last night. He was playing a goldtop Les Paul into a Marshall halfstack! His tone was to die for. You could hear clarity in every note of EVERY distorted chord. I talked to him for a minute as I hadn't seen him in years. Sure wished I would have asked him about his tone!
