Hey Shredd thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely look into it, I've been looking to do a different project with a strat or otherSC guitar, was looking out for Evans pups, to get this exact sound:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP58U_R3gK0

The guitar is a "signature" - short lived brand co-founded by alex lifeson, they used evans pups. Good luck ever finding one of those guitars for sale lol. Only about 900 were ever made.

If your guy can dupe that sound, I'd pay a lot more than 25-30 bucks :)

Kramerguy, All I can say is he's done very well for me.

What you might want to do is e-mail him with these pages:

http://www.synapticsystems.com/studios/evans/models.htm

http://www.synapticsystems.com/studios/evans/specs.htm

http://www.synapticsystems.com/studios/ ... dclips.htm

Clip #4..

And just see what he has to say. Personally, it's hard to tell what the true tone sounds like when I listen to that clip. There's so much Chorus and Delay going on. The clip from their website sounds like Lace Sensors to me.

My favorite guitar players mostly played Telecasters.
I play a Mustang, ('course I'm really a keyboard player).

obama needs expensive teleprompters so he can remember his name, Pallin is practicle and uses low tech to remember her name. WHICH ONE COST THE TAXPAYER MORE. Kramer obama is taking all your money away in the form of TAXES and telling you it is ok, we really only want to tax the rich. O K onto more important matters,,, Pallin has the figure of a Les Paul and a Fender....obama has the figure of a steinberg,,,YUUCH. Just trying to keep it musical.
OH Kramer , after all your REAGAN bashing you didn't even mention the fact that he ended the nuclear race , the cuban missle crises that JFK [a democrat], saved us from. You better get your history straight , because the only reason we are still here is because of these two great presidents.

New flash for you Glen: Russia is still alive and well. The USSR fell apart on its own, Reagan just happened to be president when it happened. And her name is 'Palin', just for the record. As in 'she is pale in comparison to any other candidate the Republicans could come up with'.

JFK didn't really save us from a war, he almost provoked one. Maybe YOU should do some research.

You are such a sheep, you allready beleive history as it is being REWRITTEN...
We didn't ask the soviet union to send NUKES to cuba , You didn't learn about that, did you?..DID YOU?
During the 80s ,the soviet union was not on the verge of collapse, allready you are calling it RUSSIA, it wasn't RUSSIA back then. It was the soviet union.
American people under the leadership of a great president, said enough is enough! We were tired of living under the threat NUCLEAR DEATH.
The threat of massive American economic strength and resolve[STAR WARS] changed the whole thinking of the soviet union. [25 years later, we are able to shoot down a missle with a LASER beam]
Jimmy you gotta be carefull when a teacher or anyone else says this is the way it was.
Somebody allready posted that GEORGE WASHINGTON was not the first president. WHATWHATWHATWHAT
:)

Thanx for the news flash, you must be reading some real progressive newspaper. NO on second thought you must be reading some real destructive newspaper that says it is ok to destroy the United States OF America.
Please don't get on any flight that I'm on because I don't want to find out what you have in your underwear.

"obama needs expensive teleprompters so he can remember his name,"

Very true. But about politics.... YAWN

If you are a performing musician and have to play on well lit stages in front of huge crowds... what guitars make your ass look big?

I've noticed that Les Paul's and 3/4 scale Strats do that.

Thanks for all the help Shredd, I will check it out. Outside of that, I'm done with this thread, it just got way to dumb. With a title like Palin, I guess it was unavoidable.

I don't blame you at all man.. If you haven't noticed, there are 2 subjects I don't like to get involved in on forums. Politics and Religion.. I'll do some reading, but it's extremely rare for me to post about it.

After searching the net, I did see some Evans for sale. There was someone in the UK selling a loaded pickguard for about $315. Given the rarity, that's actually not bad.

http://xrl.us/bgvx4z

Looking at the pickups, and reading the Evans site, I think it's more Lace territory than boutique/vintage pickup territory. I'm reading that the Evans are even more noiseless than Laces. The pickups being fully encased like EMG could probably indicate that as well.

You might find that a good set of Laces would get you to a close second at half the price. But keep in mind that in dealing with Laces, you are dealing with a different animal. I have a Strat Plus Deluxe That I've had for a good 18-years now, and I've never been too fond of the Red Bridge PU. More people are opting for the Gold, Blue, Or Burgundy in the bridge. Laces seem to have an active pickup sound, without the active part (if that makes any sense). Generally people are 50/50 on whether they like 'em or not. I do happen to like them though. Especially for recording. They're the quietest pickups I own.

I found a pretty good clip online of Laces on a recording.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music

(second from the top) Once you get about 1:00 into it, you can get an idea of how they react to distortion as well.\

Anyway, good luck man.. Once again, I just wanted to throw it out there about the Bensons. Over the past couple of months, I've been completely blown away by them. I played a show last night, and 2-people in my band commented that whatever I did to my guitar, it was definitely worth every penny.

Shredd, what do you think about the JB Junior? I put one in the bridge position of my Strat and I frickin love it! It definately gave me the humbucker sound. I have had it in there for about 6 years. Aren,t you the guy that sells amp tubes, or is that someone else? If so how often should I change the tubes in my amp. Last time I changed them (about 3 years ago) with Groove Tubes its a Crate V30 I bought it in 2005. Any thoughts?

Kramer you are such a typical radical. I don't know what your exact problems are but,,, today,,,you have allready told an American to get the flock out, you have already told another American to STFU, and you now turn and run when confronted by the truth, I am not gonna sit here and trade truth with fabrication from you and Jimmy. First you guys gotta go back and learn basic history, because next youll be saying Japan won the war.
you two are so far from the truth it scares me. you two are so good at twisting reality into fantasy it scares me. Hitler Mao and Stallin and Pol pot and Che' and Castro all used the same techniques you two are getting good at,and when you don't have a winning hand , you go home.
SO Kramer I don't really care if you unplug your ugly assed guitar and go home, because you don't want to play in the same key. ME ,I got a 78 worn and scarred Les Paul,,,,,, You can't take that away, It still sings Tall, and it will never turn tail and run from anything, ain't that AMERICAN.
Kramer , You gotta kill us all , and there are alot of us.
I could sit here and trade barbs with you , but I am kind of enjoying have a radical like you in a fish bowl that I can take out and have some fun with.
I LOVE YOU KRAMER,

Heck This whole thread started as a fishing trip to bash Palin, Have any of you ever tried to give a 45 minute speech! It is not easy. Heck just trying to be the front man of a band and trying to stretch things out a few minutes can be rough. Yeah like when you get people going and ready to hear one thing and your band is looking at you crazy because you forgot the next song.

Been out of town.

I happen to agree with parts of what EVERYONE has said here in this thread.

To Jimmy,

As long as that wasn't a tongue in cheek barb, using the FOX news tag line "fair and balanced" as a crack rather than a compliment... then "Thank you". I really try and separate myself from any bias, and to consider anything someone presents to me, on it's own merits. I think the most evil liars in the world, tell the truth once in a while, and I try and remember that I can learn something from EVERYONE.

I like that you play devil's advocate. Me too. When alot of kids were watching only cartoons, I would find myself every afternoon, fixated on the Phil Donahue show. Always controversial topics. And I would find myself, even at 8 years old or so, I found myself UNDERTSTANDING both sides of every issue presented, and would play devil's advocate MYSELF, while watching, to try and determine, WHO, if anyone had the stronger or more correct, positions. I would even get mad at each side, because as a pre-teen, I felt like I could come up with better arguments to defend each side's positions, than they themselves shared on air.

Playing devil's advocate, is really just an aspect of practicing "critical thought" which is VERY useful in helping one to discover the truth of the issues.

It's always good to begin that process by questioning OURSELVES, before embracing a position... "Why am I drawn to that position?" - "Am I being biased?" - "Am I approaching this intellectually, or merely emotionally?"

Being a devil's advocate, also helps someone UNDERSTAND from the INSIDE OUT, each position. It can help reform a detached position, to one of greater understanding and maybe even compromise. Even when we disagree with a position in GENERAL, it may be, that there are still, very valid points presented by the side of the opposition.

Clinging to blind dogma, is usually damaging eventually.

I feel we should NEVER stop questioning all our personal beliefs and positions, from time to time.

It's healthy.

Truth should be able to stand up to the scrutiny.
