No, I am listening to what is already in our hearts and minds, if we only would just LISTEN, play a wrong not in life as you do on paper it does not bode well, move a half step one way or another and it's no longer wrong.

For instance, Big Brother, back in the 60's asked James to please speak to a potentially riotous crowd at a University, play songs and music to calm them, send a message they would hear. It worked and in return Big Brother, in their innate wisdom, and one step behind mentality, kept James Brown on a watch list, it seems they realized that in one instance Mr. Brown could help them, move a half step and it could of been disastrous and a riot most surely would of ensued. That my friend is the power of music, we hear even when we don't, why? Because we already know it.

The reason I bring that up is relevant to the conversation. Aerosmith wrote and sang a song "Jamie's got a gun", we already knew what was going on in the world, Steven Tyler made us embarrassed about our fellow man and indignant of a sad, sick reality of a situation. Whether it is consensual or not, or whether she adapted to it is immaterial to the BASE of the situation, which brings you back to our 10 little rules. And keeping your hands on your own instrument. Yourself.

To the reason I decided to join fellow musicians, I am looking to play with someone else, no pun intended. I live in garland, I take lessons, actually quite good, and would like to know where to go play with other people like me.

LOL

Dude, I hope your musical timing is better than that post

You got any music up ? I'll have to check out the profile.
Have you tried the search function ? When I expand my search area to encompase the DFW area, there are a lot of bands and musicians that pop up.
Even one of our talented forum compadres is relocating into the Metroplex.

Good luck with your music project.

Ahh the dreaded foot, yes well i kind of set you up for that did I not?? I get a kick out of doing that. There aren't many people that would assume I am a bass, not base, player. Anyway, the bass is a lonely sideman job, I prefer the back in the shadow approach. Mostly do to assumptions. Get them out of the way.

I was told years ago the bassest had to be the "coolist" member of a rock band.
As a guitarest, I still hold this truth to be self evedent. 8)

I am very cool, lol. And you might of also heard that none of us really seem that right. and we aren't but then think about it, we have to carry the foundation, and all it's glory. I've heard the bass line since I was a little girl laying on the floor of a ford galaxy listening to Bridge over troubled water, trying to stay warm, I played the clarinet, cello, viola, trying to find the ethereal sound, and one day I walked into Sound Vibrations, they are my very best friends, and picked up a bass guitar and started playing it, little did I know that hey had amped me and shut all other noise off, when I was done, Robert told me I was a natural and that my whole world just opened up, I finally found the sound that has been in my head all those years, my heart beat. We are cool, we will hunt for that ethereal beauty to the end of time. 8)

Welcome ClassCat.
You touched on a note with me on this.

Ethereal is a word a great friend of mine used to use and even composed upon. You say you played Clarinet? Do you still play it?

That word just got me.

No sad to say I don't, I worked all summer long babysitting when I was 11, I bought the clarinet for 300.00, I played for 5 years, then my little sister used it and then my daughter did, sadly it was lost during a move 7 years ago and I no longer have that clarinet, I can spot it in a band though, one time I went to dinner and there was a clarinet player there playing all night ling, it brought tears and memories of that beloved instrument, that sound, I called the lonely howl of a wolf through a snow packed forest on a winters night.
