Robin, BEING YOURSELF is the most important thing you can do as a lead vocalist. YOU can't be someone else. BE YOURSELF and SING YOUR BUTT OFF and especially have fun. Everything will work out fine.

The list of singers who've hit the big time despite being totally incapable of singing in the classical sense is extensive.
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Dylin (how do you spell that)
Neil Young (ack spit spit) I did like Cinimon Girl.
Too many more to list.

Out of all the gigs I've done I've played at a few weddings. One time we had to learn Eric Clapton's "You Are Wonderful Tonight" (God I HATE that song). This was the song the bride and groom wanted us to play for their special dance. Boy was it ever special. By the time we played the song the newlyweds were plastered drunk and kept falling over each other on the dance floor. It was the funniest damn thing I ever saw in my life. Our lead singer was singing and laughing at the same time. Anyway Robin I'm glad you got the gig. Hopefully you'll have fun and make some $$$. Good luck (and be YOURSELF)...

Robin Congrats on the gig.

My band has a couple of wedding receptions on the calendar. Ive done quite a few thru the years and they can be some of the funnest gigs cause everyone there is ready to party. Another plus is the hours, you ussually dont have to play til 2 or 3 in the morning. We have one scheduled for 4pm til 7pm, the other one is 7pm til 10pm. You could actually do a wedding reception and still do another gig later. Weve done that a couple of times. Have fun, youve got a great voice so use it or lose it.

Let us know how things are going.

Im still working on a bulletin with your image.

Wonderful news, Robin!

Nothing wrong with being in a "wedding band." They make really good money!

Enjoy!

Bob - I'm laughing at "Wonderful Tonight."

It escapes me as to why ANYONE would find that song so "romantic."

It's about a guy who gets himself a pretty girl, a trophy, if you will, to make him look good in public. He goes to a party with her & shows her off to everybody. He then proceeds to get all poop-faced, & has her pour him into the car, drive his sorry ass home, & tuck him into bed while he slurs at her in his drunken state about how wonderful she is.

Yeah, THAT'S ROMANCE!

Heck, any one of us could be the most romantical person on the planet, if only we'd DRINK more!

Philby, not to be a wuss, but Ive been looking for that woman in Wonderful Tonite my whole life, but it seems like I always get the ones that throw up in my lap. At least Im getting that warm sensation that all guys want.

Wonderful Tonite is a song that you better have in your bag of tricks. It works no matter what you think of the song.

And Robin any bulletin we make will look good, TRUST ME

I hate when someone says trust me, I always think why should I not trust you.

Hmmm, I guess I got it wrong.
I always thought that "Wonderful Tonight." was about a mediocre-looking woman who thought she was ugly or something, and the guy was basically saying , 'nahhh - you look good.'
.
Congrats, Robin.
- guess it's time for you to start learning new songs, eh?
