I'm a thigh man, myself...I was actually BORNED between a pair of thighs!

Night singer lady...don't take this stuff too personally...it's all intended to help you...well, except for the convo about the boobs...but we've a lot of guys here that were bottle-fed as youngsters...or should have been, maybe.
Songwriting skills get better with time & practice...so keep writing. Lots of acts write in a simple style, Green Day being one of the best, & ppl don't gripe about it too much...work on strong melody lines, various song structures, remember that lyric content is something that is always gonna be a personal thing, but don't make the mistake of making the songs too personal for the average guy to understand the reason you're singing.
It's a fine line to walk between being too simple or too complicated...& recording qualities will always be a thorn in your side until you get into a pro studio, or learn that skill, too, from the ground up. Personally, I leave that to other ppl who know better...now arrangements & production, well, I'm gonna handle that myself, when the time comes, as much as I can.
I personally never explain the meaning of a song unless it's asked for...if they don't get it & don't ask, that's telling you something right there. Either they aren't interested enough by the piece, or it isn't thier thing, or it's possible you weren't clear enough either in your wording or your presentation. Again, don't take it personally. Try to figure out which it is.
As far as the "I'm so awesome" thing...t'was a bit silly. Take it down & move on. I note that on the one hand you are so very awesome, and on the other you don't know how to use your own equipment. Odd mix, that. If you present yourself as "awesome," it puts a bit of pressure on you to deliver, & I don't think you have, in this case.
Hone your skills. (We should have an award for the most improved artist in here, where we all vote on them.) Each time you write a song, try to record it as well as you can, & present it. Listen to the comments & take whatever you want to out of them.
That's the best part of this site, imo. The interaction between all the different types of music & musicians & singer/songsmiths.
As far as I can tell, your voice is good. Your guitar playing is good enough to accompany yourself, & that's about it. I thought there was some wierd stuff going on with the tempo at the beginning...it just felt awkward to me until you started to sing. Yeah...if you're gonna advertise yourself as a singer/songwriter, bring up the vox in your presentations, & present your best songs.
I must admit that I didn't look at the video, mostly cuz the song didn't really grab me in any way, & my time downloading stuff is so limited. Still, I didn't think it was esp a strong song...album filler, at best. My biggest complaint about it was that the melody was, well, lacking. It was like you were stuck in the chord pattern & couldn't quite figure out what to do with it. Just my worthless opinion. There are songs out there, far too many, imo, that fall into that category.
Anyway, good luck & welcome to the BM...(um...that's Band Mix, not the bowel movement thingie!)
