Dayne - since I was the most-recent person to point out the tuning/intonation issue - in your 'Ugly Duckling' thread - are you pointing your finger at me? (I notice no reply on that thread)

I may have tinnitus, but I don't have a tin ear, in fact, I have pretty close to perfect pitch hearing (just sucky vocal ability to match it!) - my father did have PP. I use electronic tuners on my guitars to get them in 'concert tuning' range but then tweak a little so that the guitar is close as it can be in different places along the neck. As I said in a different thread, the G & B strings are the usual culprits that if one only tunes via a tuner (or pitch pipe) or by using the 5th/4th fret method, then its usually not as closely tuned as it could be.

you mean the several musicians who are in a business relationship with each other here? ..who would have money to spend on stupid sh*t like that anyhow jook?.. I know I am in musical demand cause I still have a guy offering me gas money to come to rehearsals.. I guess he thinks I suffer from some disorder too.. you are getting funnier ..and I thought I had heard your most funniest comment the other day.. have you ever been auditioned yet by any band that heard your stuuf up on soundcloud yet? I did not think so, I did have somebody contact me based on music I have posted, so maybe it is a competitive thing with you, I don't know..

If I had several musicians tell me I was out of tune and I didn't hear it, I would be concerned not defensive.

see, this is where you show yourself to be either a wackadoodle, or someone in need of getting their meds adjusted. maybe you have selective reading comp skills and instead only process things you choose.

EARTH TO DAYNE!!! DAYNE DO YOU COPY????

you DID "have several musicians on here tell you" that your playing WAS OUT OF TUNE. and despite that you still want to argue the point.

Either it's physiological or psychological. There are meds to cure both.

sadly for you there are NO meds to cure your tone deafness and your inabilty to hear when your guitar is out of tune....even after "several musicians on here tell you" your gtr is out of tune.

I tuned each note to the pitch pipe, if the reeds on the pitch pipe are dysfunctional I might be able to understand it, but as far as having some brain deficiency a medical condition, that is utter hogwash..

Mike..i think it's time we ended the ruse.

Dayne has already sussed out that Vinny, DP, and i are all the same person...it's only a matter of time before his super sleuthing leads him to uncover that you too are nothing more than another of my fake personalities/accts.

I just hope he doesn't figure out that I'm also Jook, Schmed, Jimmy, and RG as well. aw, sheeeet, i just let the cat outta the bag!

the same ear that misinformed YOU, leading you to believe that your gtr was in tune....when several other musicians on here INCLUDING Mike have told you otherwise.

for now let's ignore that ridiculous accusation that i run down EVERYONE'S skills and songs.....and and stick w the one feeble exmpl you crapped out.

so you're claiming that I "always go about criticizing his (JOOK's) stuff"....that's not true. and since jook is here presently, let's get HIS opinion on your ridiculous claim.

jook?

you see pg, you once again come to a conclusion that it is my ear that is bad, rather than the pitch pipe I am relying on for accuracy giving me correct pitch..again showing your extreme negativity to certain others you feel threatened by, so I had to google: "do pitch pipes go bad" ..and walah!

Hey LowGap!

Here's my 2 cents worth. Over the past 22 years of mandolin playing, I have found that pitch pipes lose their tone and accuracy over time due to the air constantly flowing over the reed inside and the metal corroding. Electronic tuners are good in that they show you precisely the correct pitch, but they run on batteries and if the batteries are low, your tuning will be off. They also make you rely on the device and not your ears. Your ears are the best tuning instrument to use. I have used high quality Tuning Forks for 22 years and they have never let me down. They not only get your mandolin/guitar in tune but they help you use your ears and as you know, bluegrass is a "play by ear" type of music. Why do you think God gave us two of 'em? IMHO. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non ... /smile.gif

Dayne.....it's one excuse after another w you, and you keep changing your story.

First you vehemently deny that you were out of tune in the face of others telling you otherwise.

Next you claim it was intentional dissonance that the rest of us aren't sophisticated and developed enough to appreciate.

And now....you're saying yes your guitar WAS out of tune, but only cos you used a fauly pitch pipe?????

Good gawd, man! Pick a story and stick to it.....or further present yourself to be dishonest. Whatev.
