In fact, if the lyrics are good, they will write the music for you (you just have to listen). I have written some songs from the melody first but they don't seem to turn out as good. Just my two cents.

That's because you're working at it from the left-brain.
The right-brain is more intuitive.
Neither is really "better".
But, what fits some people may not fit someone else.
Someone may just work better at it one way or another.

I just posted the recording of "Johannesburg" recorded in 1987 (25 years ago!). I wrote the words first - in fact this is the first song I wrote and recorded.

It has kind of a yo-ho-ho pirate feel, to me.

You might like Ernest Noyes Brookings.
He was a senior citizen, living in Florida, who wrote many poems about virtually any subject.
Shortly before he died, a tribute album of sorts was done called "Lyrics by Ernest Noyes Brookings".
Many artists wrote songs around his poetry.
I think further albums were done like this after his death.

Crunchy you might check out some other sites specifically for songwriters if that's what you do. There are plenty of places on the net to park yourself and collaborate, critique enter contests etc... BM is not one of them or so it seems.
Maybe try a collaboration site where musicians are looking for writers.
Just sayin...
Good Luck.

The Captain has never even been a private, and you're calling him a Captain. Follow his lead on who is sane and whom is not. Your reputation, not mine. Hitler took 6 months to be dictator. This is why. Tell a lie often enough... I suppose you don't want to hear this. you only hear what what you wanna' believe. But you don't have to be a refugee. ChieF? Captain? Of what? Insults and Slander... I'll bet he's got a DRs in psychology too. Can't write a song though. Follow your Captain/Chief, you know, where he goes. I'll dump on top of that landfill.

So who won your song contest? LMAO Not you, Crunchy, I assure you.

Crunchy, you couldn't win a song contest if you were the ONLY contestant.
(see insanity is against the rules of entry)

I do not find crunchy odd at all.. he notices things about certain people here and points these things out.. I would love to put up my whole song catalog but I have no way to do it on dial-up and without a recording studio.. I'm banking on my treasure trove of musical gems for my retirement

if Lynard can figure out the chords (Joyful Noise) and can play them on a fretboard then more power to him..
