I had the privilage seeing him perform, just five feet away. Following him was Jeff Beck... and then..Both of them jammed together ...all five feet away. One of the best shows I ever attended.

I saw him in a jazz club in the west village (NYC) in 2008.


He's a great player but boring to watch, imo.

I don't think anyone goes to a John McLaughlin concert to see a "show". Go see Kiss if that's what you're looking for. I go see someone like John more to hear than to see.

When he was with Mahavishnu Orchestra, he put on a show, replete with insense, costumes and a tabla crew in the back... Was quite awesome... Then... he played with mad skill...Thats where I 'listened' :)
