Christianity is a much tougher religion than most folks realize or wish to admit. in theory, you and I should both be willing to sacrifice our lives to save one who is perishing.

God plays rough - from our perspective. His view is eternal and we are more concerned with the next drink or good meal. Sometimes it seems like He is pretty mean but then I'm reminded of Job, who apologized to God for daring to second guess Him.

Strange universe. But stranger for those who are perishing I'm sure.

Mike I just had a discussion about this with a very close friend of mine (We actually locked horns and I fear that I have alienated him now.) I posed the question: If God is all knowing, then he should already know each of our fates. Whether we accept him or reject him...he already knows...Thus, why does he not just go ahead and be rid of the evil people, which he already knows will remain evil?

Now, I have a glorious answer to that question, and it did not set well with my friend , who is an adamant Christian. Mind you, the question was not centered around religion..it was centered on being an 'appropriate challenge" to the concept of 'free will' and 'choice' , with respect to acceptance of Christ , followed by salvation.

If you want the answer, I'll share it in another post...but many people will not like it or even buy into... Actually, they just don't want to explore it... [/i]

quite frankly, I think religion is the problem. People have such strong convictions in their beliefs, that they would kill women and children, terrorize, topple governments, and wage nuclear war - all because they can't find common ground and mutual respect with people who have different beliefs.

As an agnostic, my POV is looking from the outside in, at all religions- whereas most religious folks only have the ability to see from one narrow point of view as their belief structure dictates.

This is not meant to slam any one or any religion, but to just point out something that is obvious to an "outsider".

Christianity is about salvation through grace - people have done stupid things in our name but not lately (excluding northern Ireland!)

True Christians will fight - but in self defense. it makes me sad when people don't believe. It does not however, make violent.

ALL other religions include a list of 'things' you must do to be saved - hence my oft stated comment - 'there are only two religionsd.' Grace and works (deeds). Beware of Christians who judge you based upon your 'works' - they've got it wrong - but even they won't kill you.

Govt will kill you - they want you to worship them. They are the religion of the 'other side.'

Hunger and bloodshed are coming to America and it may be sooner than later. I feel sorry for the liberal dupes who have no idea of what these tyrants are planning for us, schemes that have already been set into motion. God is going to bring down America and destroy the economies of this world. These tyrants were appointed by God up to destroy America and betray their brothers, for all authority is appointed by God. They have already destroyed our financial system. They have already made all preparations that shall turn America into a third world country. They have destroyed our energy systems, they are destroying our food supplies, they are taking away our liberty and they are arming themselves. And they are doing these things right in front of our eyes. No one rises against them, they have been given the authotity to suppress all opposition. Our judges are lawless and our representatives are lawless. The innocent have no place to turn.

The civil "servants" that once were your neighbors will turn on you and enforce the brutality that is coming. They will throw you from your homes and deny you food. They will be as the brown shirts who persecuted the innocent in former times. Just as the war criminals who were formerly brought to justice they will try to justify their behavior by saying "We have done nothing wrong, we were only doing our job. We were only following orders. It was the law." But the blood of their brothers shall be on their heads.

Those of faith understand and are preparing for this. When they come to put you in prison, or when they come to kill you remember that they can not even harm one hair on your head without permission from God. Know that God has everything under control.

I had to point out a moment of strict irony to my friend, who's daughter has volunteered at FEMA on a summer project. They are in classes right now, and did an exercise where they were given 20 strings to place in their hand. Then the questions began: 1) If you dont have a college education, remove a string from your hand... 2) If you still live in a ghetto, remove a string from your hand.....and so on, until the class was left with only a few people holding lots of the strings (the privileged). The exercise was to illustrate and discern the privileged form the under-privileged

But the real irony was lost on them.... With government help, there will always be strings. And this is what pseudo-liberals cant wrap their heads around. BTW I call them "pseudo liberals", because nothing about them is actually a liberal. To be a true liberal would imply freedom from the strings, and chains and such. Nay,,these folks are unimaginative, un creative and seek self importance by labeling themselves under a fashionable title.
