Okay , I think I;ll prolly follow this pattern of standards

Strong in front, strong in back (with downward gradient) as suggested by Jimmy, GuitarMike and YOD. Over all Arc as suggested by Sans, but will include Transitional flow between songs in the middle as suggested by CmAcoustic

What remains is one final question...

What consideration do I need to give for the Title track...Should it trump the aforementioned order or should it fall in and align with the said order...?

I'd keep the title track where it 'fits'. If it's one of the strongest tunes, then it should be one of the first 3 on the disc, as long as the overall order and feel work with it there.

My 2nd CD will be titled 'Peace Freedom Sanity Serenity' - half the songs are 'title tracks'!

Go for the gusto. Best song first, then an o.k. song next, then a good song and so on. You want to hook them. I have seen two good songs then o.k. songs and the 3 great songs at the end. Depends on the songs and how they get reviews at gigs. I have seen a few bands pass out a set list and asked to grade the songs. Try it, you never know.

The way record labels make that decision aside, I find that people buy a CD because they like the artist. They will listen to the whole project and decide which song they like best whether it's the first track or the 12th. Over time, their favorite song will change to a different track (assuming they are all good songs) so what labels are doing is putting the songs that you'll like quickly up front and the ones that grow on you towards the back.
