JCP61, So you are a gear snob? Earlier today when I read your reply you are about my age! Initially I thought you are probably a WANT TO BE! Usually I give folks the benefit of the doubt! Please understand (I LOVE STAR TREK)! When you demonstrated your AWESOMENESS naturally you PEAKED our interest LOL! As you can tell by now I CHECKED YOUR SITE OUT!

DAMN all of a sudden I hear this TREMENDOUS SUCKING SOUND (the wind beneath my wings) is a PHUKIN DOWN DRAFT!

Brother if you are coming in here talking sh!t back it up or get the PHUK OUT!

JCP61,

Ibanez J-Custom 8470F, I've never even played a guitar and I'm pretty sure I'm right about what that one is.

Those green pickups are such a nice touch!

That guitar is awesome!!!

your volk like he is volk...

I have heard that so called punk lead guitar playing of yours..............
you might want to modify that big talk.
average player for a punk band is practically calling it Mozart.
and honey you ain't no Mozart, not even for punk.

Hmm...I just got off the phone with Capitol Records...The A& R guy swears he's never heard of you JC... I Called Tower Records... They don't carry anything done by you, JC... ... (Not even in the Indies section... ) I checked the schedule at Madison Square Garden, and I found a booking for a JaySee...wrong fella... Then I thought about your guitar work...but discovered you had nothing posted... In fact, You arent on the map or the radar anywhere bro?

Why On earth would ya think its okay to bust Jimmy or any other musicians' chops like that... ? Seriously...

if I understand you,
that guitar is a JEM77 Steve Vai model I bought in 92' as far a the green pickups go, green pickups and hardware is stock for this model, but nothing on this guitar is stock, cause i'm not a collector so I butcher up my guitars to suite me.
and to tell the truth being a Hendrix, Clapton and Allman snob i didn't even know who Steve Vai was at the time. just thought it was a pretty guitar.
I only heard later that he was a hair metel guy, so hearing that, I was not interested in any thing he was doing.
but nowa days I check him out cause he is a pretty amazing soloist.

just goes to show you that you miss stuff when your prejudiced

I heard JCP61 play.
He had a song posted for a bit.
He definitely has the chops to back up his talk. I'd say borderline amazing whammy control, speed and clarity in his playing. From what I remember I'd say it was a blend of some jazz and metal. Certainly no hack. It didn't keep my attention through the whole piece but I'm not into noodlers (no offense JCP I think Steve Vai is a noodler probably the best)
I'm more into songs that people can sing along to or at least clap or interact with you.
But hell yeah... he is for real.
IMO!

Why did you delete your recording...

Gear is cool
sound
real sound from real toys is cool Tubes rule and chips are for rap stars.
truth is I can get your guitar hero stuff at any best buy. and I have some of that stuff too.. it's ok for what it is.
but you can never get this,
so you turn into a snob, just a snob of a different color.

so take your super compressed, spam in a can, no headroom, weak-knee'd, yellow bellied, gammy handed, digitally programmed buy a china man cause he knows what you want sound;
out to the club, and I will take these here. and your sound will suck ass and mine will hit the back of the room with truth and power.

The above post sounds to me like you are talking down to everyone on this site! Maybe I was being paranoid but that is the way it reads to me! I was being a little harsh last night but after reading this again it still reads the same way! It just sounds arrogant as heck!

It all comes down to being in tune and playing in key gear is gear some is better and some you can make better it don't matter I've seen some some trashcan quitars( a collection of what ever parts you have laying around) that sounded great and looked cool It's all about what you want . Being a luthier my self it's all about who is playing it (yes I'm a drummer but I do play alittle)

Thank you for the critique, you absolutely right about the noodling thing
the sounds in my head are so much louder than anything else that's going on.
so i suffer from a kind of ADD once i pick up my guitar.
if I write on staff, it is not that way, at least most times.
you are really on to something there..
audience participation!
I really need to grasp that concept, to date, it has eluded me.
truth is i can't stand noodlers either.
me i prefer George Benson, or sometimes Van Cliburn
so after a day or so i delete the tracks knowing they are really short of what i or anyone else wants.

real sound, from real toys is cool; Tubes rule.

verbosity is arrogance I will admit.

8) Benson is awesome.
He has just enough of the blues mixed in with his jazz styling... keeps me hanging on to hear what he's gonna do next.
