From the economics side if you can sing and play bass its one less person to deal with as far as scheduling, its one less person to pay if you get into a paying situation.

I have sung in bands and played guitar or bass at the same time, for some reason it was easier for me to play bass and sing. I guess the guitar frequencys tend to overlap vocal freq's or something. just my 2 cents!

Singing is the only thing where there has to be some prerequisite and pre-existant natural ability. You mentioned learning to sing a few of your songs, though, and I can say that if you can sing two songs well, you can sing two-hundred songs well.

Thanks for the encouragement! To both of you guys, really.

I understand what you're saying about Economics. Two-Member band, less headache, me and a drummer/backup singer. I don't care so much about the financials, as long as we break even on performances in the long run, I'm not a fan of playing at a loss...though I have before.

I'm the type of person where I'll concede nearly every argument just so we can get the show on the road, so to speak. However, I'm really p!$$ed about this whole ordeal with Chris as I have never experienced anything like that before. I can't stand it when people say they are going to do something and then they don't do it.

Don't get me wrong, if there is a lead guitarist that would be a great fit, I wouldn't refuse to have him as a member of the band. The thing is, I've been listening to a lot of stuff lately and thinking that many great songs (I'll give examples if you want) don't even need a lead guitar, and further, there are, dare I say, a few that would be better without.
