Is that a joke?
Whether today or 50 years from now, they would have tapped that well. Oil is, to the best of our knowledge, a finite resource. We would have had to drill there eventually.
but um, why are they drilling there now? We know there's oil on land AND if there's a spill, we can clean it up a whole lot easer on land than having to scrape oil off thousands of square miles of coastal land...
Darwin, is that dumb!
I don't know about you Chris, but I don't have gills. I can't enjoy the ocean 5 miles down.
But I can enjoy the forest and the animals in it.
Call me a tree hugger, but I'd like to preserve the wilderness we HAVE while we have it.
It explains why BP had to drill out there in the middle of the ocean. Environmentalism forced them out there - it wasn't their choice, so Sans is right - environmentalism played a large role in why we have several hundred miles of tarred wild-life. The easy money as he put it, would have spared several hundreds (thousands?) of miles worth of now tarred environment where you don't need gills to enjoy it.
Besides, since when has environmentalism been relative to your location? Are you saying it's o.k. for 3rd world countries to kill their environment so we can have our oil and clean soil .. it applies to our backyard only - screw our neighbors?
how sad.
The more I practice, the more time I wish I had to practice
