Back to the treadmill...damn it's boring! I wanna get down to around 200, which is what I weighed when I was 38. Haven't seen that for 17 years! OMG that's a long time!
My goal is 190. I think I'll be there by the time June rolls around and I need to jump into a swimsuit. I am feeling really good about how I look at 210... I get to see my girlfriend in 9 more days... She's going to love the way I look, and that's exciting.
For me Phil, it was all about training myself to
eat less and eat way better foods.
I consume around 1200 calories a day, sometimes less. My stomach has shrunk considerably to the point where I don't get super hungry anymore. I eat now because I know I should, not because my stomach is begging me to.
I also eat much better foods. I eat whole foods and fresh foods. Chicken and fish with fresh veggies; red meat occasionally, but small portions. No more 16 oz. steaks.
I also completely cut diet Coke out out of my diet. I was drinking 3-6 cans a day. All it does is fire up your hunger stove and make you want to eat.
My doctor put me on the Mediterranean diet. I drink water now throughout the day and I have a half a glass of red wine at dinner. I shy away from lots of carbs and stick to proteins, but I make sure to get some whole grains in there and such.
I eat way smaller meals and I take longer to eat them. Chew longer, savor the food, enjoy the flavor.
I still eat out 2-3 times a week, but not fast food. I go to a sit-down restaurant and order something healthy. If the restaurant has big portions, I push away when I'm full and take the rest home.
I lift weights occasionally, but not as often as I like because I have bursitis in my right knee right now and the prescription is rest. So no treadmill for the past two months and no weightlifting of the legs. I just lift free weights on my upper body about every 2-3 days. And I'm still losing...
I am losing weight consistently every week and I think the biggest thing is just eating a lot less food and drinking water.
There's a recipe to this madness. You can do it man. I was 246 on November 1st. At my heaviest I was 255 last summer. All of my previous attempts to lose weight have been failures. I would get 2 weeks into it, not see any significant weight loss, and I'd cheat on my diet and then quit.
This time, I took the long view. I knew I wouldn't see any real results for months. It had to be steady weight loss. A pound a week.
It's been 23 weeks since I started and I've lost 36 lbs.
This can be done!
I have 20 lbs. left to my goal weight and I KNOW this time I'm going to make my goal AND I'll be able to stay there because I've retrained my body. I've changed my eating habits and stuck to those changes. I'm used to eating this way now.
THIS CAN BE DONE!
