Philby dont take it that I was arguing, the only thing you and I seem to get into it about is Led Zep! ha ha
I was just concerned about your neighbors. I didnt mean to infer that you would brag, but if you have some that dont like you, I wouldnt want to see them get something on you that could cause undue trouble.
I live in the middle of a farm and see 20-30 deer a day. We also have a big population of turkeys, Ive seen up to 60 of them at a time. I have a pond out front that attracts geese. I hate geese cause they crap all over and are just messy animals. When I see them getting too close to the house I put 5-10 rounds in the ole AK47 and shoot at them from the hip. Ussually clears them right out and they fly across the road to my parents house. Occasionally one of them runs into a bullet! They make great food for my dog!
The one thing I dont see a lot of anymore are rabbits. I dont know whats happened to them locally you just dont see them much. When I was a child we used to have a lot of quail, but theyve dissapeared also. I used to like to hunt rabbit and quail cause you used dogs to point and chase them. I still know some guys with rabbit dogs, I may have to get in touch and see if they want to hunt again. That used to be a lot of fun.
I dont hunt near as much as I used too.

Rabbit hunting is fun. We had 2 beagles when I was a kid. Good times. My favorite hunting is frog gigging! Wading up to your chest in a creek at 1 in the morning with a good search light on your head is killer! 10 foot pole with homemade gigs. Dad is talented! Replaceable tines he made from steel rod cut to length and blow torched, hammered, and sharpened. Then put in place with a an allen set screw. If you broke a tine during the hunt he'd pull a replacement out!

JW - Everyone loves me...even my neighbors!
So no worries there! LOL
I think the rabbit population is growing out here. There for a few years they were getting pretty rare. Now I see one or more almost daily, in lots of areas.
Quail & grouse are nearly extinct around here, like pheasant. I went quail hunting once with my father. Didn't get nothing but an aching shoulder from firing the shotgun & missing...well...there was also that ringing in the ears! I never even HEAR that "bob-white" call anymore. Not even in the spring. I fear the quail may have gone the way of the dodo, except for the farms what sell the eggs to sushi chefs!
I would not waste a good goose or turkey on a dog! Man, I LOVE that stuff! Then again, I suppose if you eat enough of it, it just gets old, eh? There's a few ppl out here what say they just don't like the stuff, preferring store-bought. That just tells me they dunno how to cook! LOL
Hey JW! I heard a good one a cpl years ago...just don't EVER get caught doing it! (disclaimer - I would never do this!) Tie some fishing line to a tree, & put a corn kernal on the hook. Then scatter some corn. The hook gets caught in the gizzard, & chances are you'll have a turkey in the morning! If you forget to check on it, the hook gets dissolved in the gizzard, & no harm to the turkey! I LMAO when I heard this....but then I started thinking...fishing for turkeys! What a concept!
I used to go frog-gigging every summer, Paul. Never heard of replaceable tines on a gig, though. That's pretty creative!

Philby, the turkey died, just so you know
I used to frog gig all the time, I had forgotten about that til you guys mentioned it.
I went to Tampa FLA 15 years ago at the expense of a fert company I did business with. They took us fishing in the phosphate pits for bass. Another guy and his son were fishing and the son was a really good angler, so good that he hooked a pelican and the line got cut and was wrapped around his beak. I was in another boat with a guide and he was cussing this guy and I asked what is going to happen to the Pelican? He said he will probably die for that, I said get the boat next to him, we lured him to the boat wit some bait fish I caught him by the beak got him in the boat and removed the line and lure and let him go. The guide was impressed, he said I never seen anyone do that before. So I have caught a Pelican before, just add that to my wildlife list.

I caugh a big water moccasin once fishing from a bridge. Flung him up on the road and my friend cut his head off with a boat paddle. Woke up the next morning with muscle spasm in my back, missed a weeks worth of work and slept on the floor
Water moccasin revenge !!
That same buddy caught a duck "accidently" LOL with a top water lure.
Were were just kids, snuck out to the small lake early one morning before curfew at a church camp.
That dang duck blew our cover to say the least.

Sorry Guys I try to stick to music on here, but when I think about it, Ive done just about everything at this point in life that I ever wanted to do.
Maybe climb some mountains, I just dont want to freeze to death on a mountain somewhere, but who knows?

We recently had a controlled hunt in Shawnee Mission Park here in Johnson County, Ks. There was a lot of protests from the animal lovers. They ended up killing well over 300 deer and donated the venison to homeless shelters in K.C. What the protestors don't realize is the deer have no natural predators and are severely overpopulated. That being said they also attract ticks. You can't walk through the grass almost anywhere in the park without picking up a few deer ticks. There's a disc golf course in Shawnee Mission Park that is LOADED with ticks. I'd just as soon have fewer, healthier deer and LESS ticks if you don't mind...

Now the flesh colored variety is a whole different story.
Been there and done that so many times.

Thats funny Capt 400 meters no scope, I would have to see that to believe it. 100 yards with a scope is tough for most people, unless you were a former sniper, and even then without a scope, come on
I know enough about guns and have shot enough in my life to know better than that, you might bullshit some folks but you cant bullshit a bullshitter!
