I don't know if he's underrated but he's surely the heaviest player ever. My friends and I made a rule that whenever we talk about Led Zep we must add the adjective "mighty". They are the mighty Led Zep. :)

Eve, you are my kind of girl! Will you marry me (if my wife leaves) ??

The MIGHTY Jimmy Page can play our reception.

Didn't read the many PAGES :) of posts but can't deny his influence on modern rock guitar playing and probably the sales of LesPauls :D
I know this is about Page but.... I don't think there has ever been a band that blatantly plagiarized more than those chaps!
Still love em but yeah.... they settled out of court on some potential law suits.
Didn't give credit for so many things they lifted as writers and players.

That's why I focus on the catalogue from Houses Of The Holy going forward.
You can tell by listening to (most of) everything after IV that they were able to write their own stuff (mostly) and it was great.

Hey, that's why I put the disclaimers in there. Physical Graffiti, which you cite, was a bloated compilation of material that had been stacking up for years. Houses Of The Holy title track, anyone? But Achilles Last Stand, The Song Remains The Same, Sick Again, Night Flight, In The Evening..... stuff like that. That's what I was referring to.

And a lot of good memorable tunes ... Physical Graffiti was the chit! Even on the borrowed licks and lines. 8)

Didn't mean to say Physical Graffiti isn't a great listen from start to finish. But it does have a ten minute blues number. Given their reputation for stealing from the masters, that's out. Custard Pie, same deal. And so on.

Gotta put in the good word for In The Light and Down By The Seaside in the middle. Two absolutely incredible numbers.
