and everyone who predicted i'd stay on point and swat away each of your wack arguments, assertions, and boasts w logic while addressing each and every one of them...go to the head of the class!

what? did you think i'd try to WIN this argument by bringing up Joseph's "amateur" status vs. my PRO status?

did you think i'd start talking about other musicians who i play with?

...post video of Andy Timmons?

...talk at length about what's involved playing an instrument that I know precious little about?

did you think i'd be the one to introduce other's lack of reading comp?

...or talk about someone else changing the topic and then going off on a detour about darts????

Look at that, Ted...YOU'RE just as "predictable as I am!

These days Strats, but as can be seen it wasn't always that way.

So you're giving up playing music to play darts? Good idea at your age, a lot less stressful!

Its a shame that a decent musician like yourself has so many problems with simple comprehension of the english language.

When you think of Jimmy Page what guitar do you see in his hands?

I don't think I've ever seen a strat in Jimmy's hands....surely it must have happened once?

I have seen him playing his Tele but that's rare.

Exactly. The defense rests

No, I'm going into film-making where the stress is higher.

My ability to play a slow song on a stringed instrument with one finger was questioned, so I responded.

Yes, I hope that's predictable.

OK...we have beat this poor horse to death. I hope you and joseph know that I hold no bitterness toward you (for being so wrong! ;-) ) but you are entitled to be wrong if you wish...it's just an opinions discussion board. My only point all along was that it is impossible to under-rate JP. And I don't think he can be over-rated either. His place in history is secure.

I was replying to the Clapton montage that lacked a Strat. Jimmy played one on the How The West Was Won DVD on the In Through The Out Door tour.

* and I've read it was his go-to axe in the studio

now....on to more important matters, what happened to the Warriors last night?

They were sandbagging in Game 3. I don't think they wanted to embarrass the Cavs on their home-court with a sweep. But Steph finally decided to start playing in Game 4 and NBA records were set again.

It ends Monday night....very badly for Cleveland.

And no one yet has mentioned his old Dano DC-3.
I've seen video of Page playing whole sets w/ that old Masonite guitar.

The LP Standard may have been his 'go-to' guitar on stage.
But in the studio he was playing many different guitars through many different amps.
How do you account for the wide variation in tone and sound he produced on record?
BTW- how many live shows did the original Zep do??
Now, how many ALBUMS did they sell and HOW many times were those albums played??

When you hear a Zep song, you don't know WHAT guitar you are listening to.
Only one person knows the answer to this and he ain't telling and he's probably forgotten over the years. All we have for evidence is the video of the live stuff, not the recordings you hear so much of.

Page has ALWAYS been 'tight-lipped' about his recording technique to keep the mystique thing going among his fans. But he occasionally will throw his fans a tidbit or two.

Oh yea, that old Silvertone too.

But 100% of their promotional photos has him with a Gibson Les Paul swinging down around his knees.

My mom got me a Guitar Aficionado magazine once for Christmas (it had Alex Lifeson of Rush on the cover). It was mostly a wankfest for the uber rich, but I enjoyed the article on John McEnroe's collection of rare vintage lefties. Talk about a valuable collection of guitars!
