If you can cover Entwhistle, I'll mod out and do windmills with you!

I never regarded The Who as very "modlike".

However....

The Kinks! definitely full-blown MOD, right down to the Carnaby polka dot & Paisley hiphuggers!

Most Yanks in my neck of the woods at that time considered the mod thing much cooler then teds or rockers.

Last Saturday night, (while most of you were out gigin' and makin' lots of bread), I was once again listening to my favorite radio show , Little Steven's Underground Garage, while working on my new house , and as fate would have it, the prevailing theme of the show was The Who, since Little Steven wished to honer Pete Townsend's birthday. Imagine my surprise when the mother of all rock historians described how , in the early days, The Who were in fact, the band most favored by the Mods! (Seems 'ol Howlin' didn't escape the 60's with all his facts straight after all!

Hi Howling. Yup that's very true. If you have any some of their early albums covers had scooters if I remember correctly?

Certainly a must watch film Quadrophenia set in that very place I ws talking about earlier. (Brighton) and this album bare testimony to the confusion early on. Mostly however Mod music in the 60's was R 'n' B and what we called 'Northern Soul'.

Later when the Mod revival arrived in the late 70's there were other bands such as the Police, Selector, Madness and many others which were confused as Mod music but then that was a wonderful time in general I feel personally. Everything was there from Punk through to heavy Metal.

After things went soppy I was left wondering why this had all ended. It was truly a great time to be alive and playing for sure.

Cheers.
Chippy

Check out this film too though if anyone is interested.
