Posers come in all realms;
just because they have expensive gear
have a demo
play out
write songs... does NOT mean that they are not a poser!

To "me" a poser is someone who is there for what the music can do "for" them, rather than what it does "to" them!

To me everything starts and ends with the song/music. I have no time for people who are merely starving for the limelight because their motives will not mix with the creation of art.
They will come in and wreck a good group with their selfish and manipulative actions. You are merely a stepping stone for a poser!

ALL POSERS MUST DIE!

OUCH !!

I am not so sure that I don't, in some ways, meet Haydens criteria of a "poser".
My personal motives to me are not always so clearly cut and dry.
The motive behind or music is clear. My motive for being a guitar player?
Sometimes I wonder.

GETTING BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POST..... THE MAN IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!! IT IS SO EASY TO POST MUSIC ON ANY SITE , EVEN POOR RECORDINGS ARE OK. IF YOU HAVE A COMPUTER, I TUNES, ANY SORT OF RECORDER ,YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT IT UP FOR US TO LISTEN TO.
JUST TO BAD WE HAVE REGRESSD FROM 4TRACK RECORDERS USING TWO INCH TAPE, TO MP3s 198 or128 KPS. YOU YOUNGER PLAYERS MAY NEVER FIND OUT WHAT YOU MISSED. ANY WAY,,,,,,
IF YOU DON'T PUT SOMETHING UP WE DON'T KNOW IF WE ARE WAISTING TIME ANYBODY'S YOURS OUR MINE. NEXT MONTH I'M GONNA BE AS OLD AS CRIP2NITE,98and a half. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE.
SAD , I HAVE MET SOME GOOD LOCAL PLAYERS THAT THINK YOU DON'T HAVE TO PRACTICE,PUT ANY EFFORT IN TO IT, AND SOMEONE WILL JUST COME ALONG AND HAND YOU A BUNCH OF MONEY.
JUST ASK RATSASS OR ANY OF THESE REALLY GREAT PLAYERS ON THIS SITE......DID I JUST WAKE UP ONE MORNING AND I WAS REALLY GOOD.
NO NO NO.. IT TAKES EFFORT!!!!! PUT SOME IN... POST SOME MUSIC!!!!!!

I'll chime in here.

Ive met some folks off here that didnt have music up that were actually good musicians, Ive met people off here that had some great music posted but when I got with them they didnt sound the same.

I think if a person is serious about playing, they should post a good picture, some music, maybe at the minimum a song list of songs they know backwards and forwards.

AND THIS IS THE BIG ONE TO ME. Post what instrument you actually want to play! Some are very vague. I mean do you play bass or guitar, or drums or the tuba. If you cant nail it down to one instrument, it just doesnt make sense to me.

And as Gearge said earlier, If you really want to get out and play, then get out and play. Decide what genre of music you want to play and go where that music is being played. Period, make yourself known to other folks playing the type music you want to play. Craigs List, Local Music Stores, Guitar Techs, Sound Engineers all these folks are people that know people that are playing music or want to play music.

To simplify things Just Do It!!!

Oh and PS if a musician wouldnt take my call, I wouldnt mess with them.

Maybe, while you're busy whining about why people don't have music up, you can start throwing a few hundred bucks to each one of those people so they can buy the necessary equipment to record themselves.

Or maybe you folks think that recording equipment grows in trees.

Or that everyone is rich.

No, no, Colorsfade, in my post I stated that people in my area don't have music up. Yet they say they are looking for bands or musicians. Several of the people I know, and I know they have recorded work that they could put up. Some of them have recorded with me, either live or at my studio. Others are working with other studios that I know, so I know they have the music, they just don't put it on here for others to listen to.
