I would have taken a third option of "I dont care" really. but in the end, it's a sub-genre, and like most other sub-genre's, the masses will never like it, and it will always lose by a landslide, be it screamo or be it any of these: (from wiki)

All that can be said is the the population on this particular site doesn't like it. Like I said, you can't draw any conclusions. There is no right or wrong in music. I can't stand grindcore, but some people like it. I'm not going to say they're wrong because I don't think it sounds good. That's retarded.

I agree that there is no right or wrong in music... but, I do believe in good or bad in music.
And I think you know that I've been stirring the pot and having a bit of fun with this.
I dont like screamo because I dont think the vocal style is valid musically, and I dont expect that I'll be changing that opinion.

Mischief accomplished. Carry on.

Grindcore is a subgenre of metal...It's mostly dark simple riffs and tones, mixed with growling pig vocals. A good example of this can be the band "Annotations Of An Autopsy"...It's not really my thing, but some of it can be okay

Like all forms of music, there is some bad and some good. That distinction is left to the listener to decide. I personally think there's lots of room in music for screaming, whispering, shouting, singing and yodeling.

fisherman bob's genre of music: get an amp, plug in your axe, play it until it sounds good, add some vocals on top of that until it sounds good, coordinate that with some percussion until it sounds good, PRESTO you've got a good genre. Get tired of playing then go fishing. THE END.

Dont like screamo.

I play many forms of music, and listen to many more that I do not play.
The form presently known as "screamo' happens to be neither.

However....

This subject has been debated into the ground on this forum before, and as a result, I have come to be tolerant of the genre.

Why?....

Because Mike Gentry, who happens to be a young blues guitar player on par with Jonny Lang, in my opinion, plays in a very popular screamo band out in Washington state, and he set all us ol' fart naysayers straight!

My dear departed dad didn't care all that much for The Beatles, nor Alice Cooper, or a whole lot of stuff I like. I always figured it was just "ol'fartizm" . Now that some of us boomer rockers are older, it seems we sometimes suffer from the same affliction. Call it what ya' will, The beat goes on, and , for better or worse (depending on your point of view) that's a good thing.

for what it's worth,
Howlin'

PS, in the last several post by Bob, Zip Repression JimmeyD, and Haley, some very excellent points were brought up. Just wanted to acknowledge thet.
It's an honer to be yakkin' with ya'll!

Well, screaming isn't singing, nor is it music.
Everyone can scream.
Not everyone can sing.

Couldn't you say that about rapping, too? People don't argue that that isn't music. People just need to get used to it. And no, not everyone can scream like that. It's actually something I had to take time to develop.
