LOL I never had to fire anyone. I just let the crowds with torches and pitchforks chase them around.

I've never been fired, but I have fired a couple of people. One was a very good guitar player that was a long time cloe friend of mine, but his style just didn't fit. Just like quitting, be honest, not hostile & if it is a democratic band thing, make sure that everyone else is in agreement on what & how it needs to be handled & "insist" that everyone be there.
I was in a band years ago (80's), this band I was in was okay for what they did. The Drummer was King Ego, we rehearsed and around the 5th gig he was flaring at me for being to flashy on my guitar. Always saying, "Why do you have to play that way".....I just shrug my shoulders and blazed away. I knew I was on barrowed time, So when the band took a break, I took a manicly-wild guitar solo (no holding back), I did my 8 fingered tapping , Yngwie speed picking, wild tremolo screams and all points in between !!!!.... the crowd loved it (the rest of the band did too), but not the drummer.... he told me "Dude, you're fired"
The next day, I went over to pick up the rest of my gear at our rehearsal room, I noticed his drum set was gone, so they guys told me "You stay ...he's the goner, not you"
I tripped because he started the band and was the shot caller
