Hey sentient, I understand, and if you are into everything, I'm with ya bud.

I guess the frustration involved is that MOST of the profiles I'm trying to look through have that same stuff listed. Then, no audio, poor profile editing, so I end up with no idea what the person is about. If you check ALL those boxes and you have some audio up that incorporates different instruments, well then, I say great.

I know the general consensus is to ignore profiles that are incomplete or have no audio, but when you are getting 9 out of 10 like that, you really start to wonder if 9 out of 10 are really that horrible of a musician, and maybe just not computer savy, or maybe didn't think to NOT include every instrument under the sun.

The reason of my thread here was of course, to bitch, but also to maybe enlighten a few noobs as to what might make their profile get a few more serious views.

Sorry to interrupt this discussion. I am REALLY new to this site. I have modified my profile to get rid of the "Extra" stuff. So what you're saying is, I really need to have something that I have sung on my profile too? Audiowise that is. And as far as how long I have been playing, how in the world do I list how long I have been singing? Since I can remember is how long. Any input would surely be appreciated. Thanks for any help. :)

RobinL. Nice tune, nice pipes, your profile looks ok to me. When you can get around to it put up something that displays more of your range.
Welcome to the Bandmix lady.

Thank you Sans... when I get a handle on how to record myself, I will try to find something that shows my range. If anyone has any suggestions about what song might do that....let me know. What do you think about "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane?

You have a good voice Robin. I too came out the womb singing. I am 37. in my profile I put that I have been playing music 35 years.

White Rabbit could work for you. Though I'm not much of a fan of Joplin's vocal technique. I did and still enjoy her/their songs. I think some thing along the lines of Supersticious would work well too.
(excuse mi spellin)

Thank you Philbymon :) and Neanderpaul :) . RhythmMan, I will take into consideration Alone as a choice. I can sing "Heart" songs. "Alone" is one that I am not as familiar with, but absolutely nail "Dreamboat Annie" which, now that I think about it, does have a good range in it. I am sure that most people are only sampling the music that is listed and "Dreamboat Annie" shows range very quickly instead of building up to it like "White Rabbit" by Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane  I really appreciate all the comments and suggestions you all!! :D

If you're planning on recording a demo, you'll want to avoid monotone music.
I really, really like K T Tunstal, and Black horse and the Cherry tree.
I play it, and I've done it with a female vocalist.
No doubt - it's a good song.
Got a great rhythm to it, too . . .
.
- but there's not a whole lot of notes in it . . . if you know what I mean.
(Think "A Horse with No Name")
.
Probably one of the main things about that song is to sing it with emotion . . . with attitude . . .
For that song: no attitude = no song.
If you sing that song well (and - you do, by the way), it shows that you can do that type of song very well.
It shows you can be expressive, and you can also sing.
(Many expressive female singers yell good & scream good, but they don't sing so good.)
Anyway, you should keep it as a good demo . . . it shows you can sing.
. . . but . . .
It doesn't show how well you can sing . . .
.
So, if you can also do a song like "Alone" well - you would open up twice as many doors for yourself.
.
While searching for female vocalists over the last couple of years, 3 of them emailed me a copy of themselves singing "Alone,' by Heart.
(Not by my request - it was each of their choices . . .)
This was their choice for songs showing their musical range and whatnot . . .
Hopefully you like the song well enough to do it.
And - if you don't like it - don't force yourself to do it.
Instead. find another song that you do like, which demonstrates the same kind of vocal characteristics.
.
Once you've got that song recorded, find a 3rd song that uses the female vocals in yet a different way . . . maybe anothe genre, or what-not.
But - I recommend a song utilizing different vocal characteristics.
3 songs to show every vocal technique you know.
Do them all well, and you're 'in' . . .
.
On the other hand . . . if you only want to sing one style of music (eg. all Folk, all hard rock, or all metal), then your demos shoiud reflect that . . .
.
But - versitility is key to many musicians looking for singers . . .
