exume_me wrote:thank you so much Craig! I was thinking about getting a vocal coach, however all the ones i have been to have tried to make me sound like something i'm not, so i'm trying to find the right coach for me.

again thank you so much for the vote of confidence and the humility smack down (by the way i worded that whole statement you quoted wrong, it was ment for potential, i know how to put the band in a situation where the potential is there for the audiance, namely networking and the fact that most friends of mine come to me when they want to find a new band with good music)

you have been a lot of help! and i'll get on that right away!

hope to thank you from the stage in a couple of years ^^

You go girl! 8) If you want honest (sometimes painfully) advice, this is the place to be! I'm still fairly new, but in my quest to jump from amature to professional, I have learned more from the guys here than the vocal coach I paid good money for! I have had the same discovery as you with the vocal coaches...on my way to trying a new one on Wed ;) If you keep Craig's tips in mind when you are singing, you will notice a difference almost immediately. You sound like a Mezzo-Soprano, like myself, and when we are getting up into the head voice we tend to sound nassally so don't worry about it...just keep opening your throat. And always over-annunciate your words while singing. It feels retarded but if you record yourself once not doing it then again doing that, you will hear an astonishing difference...a vid coach I saw said when you are singing, you should be able to fit your index & middle finger into the embrachure at all times. Again, feels retarded, but the sound shifts from amature to pro.

Also, those ExpertVillage vids are DEADLY! I was able to improve by watching those as well, so be sure to check 'em out!

Keep it up girl! :D

Hello. My name is Stephen, and I'm a drummer for a band called Big Boom Theory. You can listen to our music at soundcloud.com/bigboomtheory. I'd like to talk with you about a tryout, but you don't have your contact info listed. Shoot me a note at spkaufman@comcast.net if you like our music and would like to tryout.
