Screw that crap... there are thousands of sites that allow people with similar interest to contact each other and form some sort of relationship be it a motorcycle site, a music site, a freakin' knitting site,etc...

Hmmmm lets see...craigslist...I've aqcuired musicians
myspace: gigs, musicians, connections
Long Island Musicians Classifieds: Hooked up with some awesome musicians

Hell, I've actually hooked up with a few from my biker sites... In this day and age, money is getting freakin' tight and I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay some freakin' web site who already makes $$ off of sponsors!! I just come here to check out my fellow musicians.... as far as hookin' up with anybody, this site does squat sh!t.

Everybody's always out to get into your pockets... bandmix should stipulate that if you don't find someone within a specific amount of time, then you'll get your money back. I'm sorry... and I know for a fact that many others on here agree but don't wanna stir the pot....IT IS A FREAKIN' RIP OFF!!!

3/4 of our current band line-up are Bandmix members. Hey Crip I'm surprised you feel Bandmix is a rip-off. You post on here all the time, even post pictures of you flossing at one of your last shows. The publicity you get on Bandmix can't be a bad thing.? I'll bet when you come out with your next CD (hopefully soon) a lot of the people on Bandmix will buy one. Later...

These comments are not aimed towards anyone, specifically.
. . . just my idea of MySpace.
.
I like Bandmix.
.
I like MySpace.
.
I'm at a little over 900 plays, also, on MySpace. (They won't tell me, here).
I've gotten tons and tons of feedback on my music, much of it from signed & touring groups.
And EVERY one of my friends there has music posted. Or Lyrics posted.
I've been able to filter out the "armchair musicians;" All my friends there are "do-ers." They all either write music, write lyrics, or play in public. Or they practice continually, preparing for some future in music.
I've met about half a dozen of them.
I get bulletins about local musical events.
I get bulletins when they're playing nearby.
They get bulletins when I'm playing nearby.
.
I'm trying to understand here why any serious musician would not love this (did I mention) free site?
.
And it seems that every big group or big name you can think of has a MySpace account. Everyone from Reba to Dolly, from McCartney to Tangerine Dream . . .
Some of the folks who are poo - pooing that site should be studying it, instead . . .
.
So, why am I here?
I like this site too.
Same reason as most others; good conversation.
. . . as long as it's about music . . .
:)

No, I get to post pics and gigs and stuff... the ripoff is the fact they want you to fork over money in order to get in touch with a potential band mate.... The publicity here don't really do crap for me.... I've yet to see anyone from this site come down to any of my gigs.. on the other hand there have been a multitude of people from myspace that have come down and supported us...again... All the ads, band member aquisitions, booking agents and club contacts were completely FREE!

On another note, I will never whore any future CD here on bandmix... This is supposed to be a site where musicians share their thoughts, interests, music, etc... not a place to grub some cash!

Myspace isn't FREE. The site is supported by gaziilion dollars of advertising. When you say you won't sell your music on this site what you're really saying is you consider it a conflict of interest. You don't consider this a commercial website. I agree. Bandmix isn't a commercial website. I'm more than happy to fork over a small amount of money to support a website that has professional musicians (like yourself) who regularly contribute ideas AND post info (and pictures) of their recent gigs and music. I have no problem with anybody on this site saying they recently recorded a new CD. I have no problem with them saying check out my Myspace page (many on here have one) or check out my band's new website, etc. On your Myspace page or band website you could SELL your new (or old) CD's. I even have no problem with you mentioning a website on your Bandmix profile page (which might lead people to eventually purchase a CD). Bandmix happens to be my favorite musicians website. I like the fact that there's virtually no advertising on here. The people who frequently post on the forum here are truly informative and offer their advice freely. It wouldn't bother me in the least if some of them (even you) make a few dollars by selling some music here. Later...

I am with CRIP.

Go charge BONO! If anyone here makes any real cash, Bandmix just stands to gain-gain-gain.

Otherwise, they aren't getting even a cent.
