that much is true(except you cant spell RHOADS .... Randy would be pissed

this part is true
hit two..............

OK,,,now step away from the Crack pipe sonny.
Along with all the Strats, Ibanez, ESP's I've owned over the yaers,( and I've owned allot) I have and had custom and production Jacksons and I'll say this,,,, that in no way does a $4000+ Custom or $2000 USA play like the cheap $300 to $700 models unless the neck or setup is screwed or the player just sucks and cant tell the diffrence. Tone is subjective and most of it comes from the player,,but the choice of Woods, P'ups, Bridge, String gauge, Body design,,etc plays a large part of the tone of that instrument. You can buy the same model guitar and have one with a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fretboard and its gonna sound radically different from the basswood body maple neck and rosewood fretboard.
Justt because Fender bought them doesn't mean they walked in and fired everyone and replaced them with their people either,,the Production and Custom shop people are still working,,,, nothing has really changed there. .. helll...Mike Shannon(who built Randy's orig. guitars ) is still there building guitars,,,and they have even added Mike learn ( Innovator of the real flame paint and Artist who did Megadeth's The System Has Failed album cover, and custom bikes) doing the custom paint.
I like the 80's Jap Strats also,,, they played great,,as I liked the back shape of the necks,,and a good find if the neck is in good condition. i have one in the closet thats in pieces that i got in the 80's that i played, giged and beat the hell out of for years until it was unplayable, and loved that guitar.
gtZip .....Dude,,,Keep your Rhoads, spend 40/60 bucks and take it to a Real shop(not just your local GC) and get a REAL setup done to it. Not just a truss rod tweak and new strings and a clean fretboard and out the door that most places do and most people don't know any different.... .make sure it includes those things plus re-set the intonation (Then stick with the same gauge strings that it was set with) and most importantly a fret dress , as this is important cause they can lower the action to practically nothing and file then re-crown any high, worn, or offending frets and when you get it back it will feel like a brand new axe. I promise
then just save you cash up and later buy a nice used Jap strat and have the same setup done to it, and you wont be sorry.
If after all that you still feel the need to get rid of you Rhoads, hit me up And I'm sure we can work something out,,,,But I'd say keep it
