Wow Craig, that's exactly wot I use and line it into the stereo cabinet.... I'm loving the sound and have yet to experience the probs you mentioned. I'm getting a lot of other bands I play with that all use Marshalls inquiring about my set-up... took me about 4 months to perfect my own unique sound on each channel but it was worth the experimenting... I know there are quite a few pre-sets but they all sound so freakin "tinny" I like to boost up the mids and bass on both clean and overdrive and if you tweak it just right, you can defintely get the sound of a tube amp!

Back in the '70's, I saved my $ & bought a pre-CBS Twin Reverb. I loved that amp.

These days I don't play nearly as much electric, & just use a little Peavey Express 112, which ought to show you how seriously I take my rhythm playing. LOL

I'm still kicking myself repeatedly every time I remember selling that Fender, though. Thanks for reminding me. Why don't you just give me a nice paper cut & rub lemon juice in it?

I just sold it off last weekend and bought a Peavey KB3.

How do you like the Peavey?

Mixed.

As far as sound, it's exactly what I needed. Pure clean, no coloring of any kind. I had a hard time getting a unbiased clean out of the 6 because it's a modeler and the gain/volume was difficult to manage for me. the Peavey has both a higher and lower freq range, if you believe that. The line 6 really was no slacker in that department.

Oddly , I have a harder time discerning output volume with the Peavey, it's got a tweeter inside the cone, which (I guess) makes it slightly more directional.

But I did let a guy play it last night in the bar (3 guys in a band rolled in and wanted to do a couple of originals), so I got a chance to get way out in front of it, and it sounded pretty damn good. Afterwords that guitarist told me my tone was really sweet, so I think it's a keeper.

The best bass amp I've ever used was the Sunn Colosseum with 2 18" cabinets CerwinVega speakers. The next and probably the best Bass amp of all time was the Traynor Mono Block B with the 18-2x8" cabinet.

My band did a full practice outdoors sunday with full pa.

I pulled the ole Sunn Model T out and slaved it off Mesa. Sounded really good, although I know a twin halfstack setup is too much for most venues we will be playing. It was fun moving major air. I wound up not using any effects, just straight Les Paul and amp.

I need to hook us up with an outdoor festival type gig somewhere so I can bring out all the amps.

1) Fender Frontman 15 - My dad bought it for me when I first started playing when I was 6. It was more than enough for starting out. Decent cleans and that's all I needed at the time.

2) Crate 30 watt SS - I forget the model name, but it was crap anyway. I got it in a package deal with a guitar my parents bought for me when I was 8 or 9. Possibly the dullest amp I've ever heard. I made what I had work until I started working and was able to buy my own gear.

3) Peavey Transtube Supreme head with Behringer 4x12 cab - For a SS amp, that Peavey sounded pretty good. I used this for a while with a few bands I was in all throughout high school. Ended up selling it when I moved after graduating high school. That Behringer cab wasn't all that bad either. It was loaded with Jenson's and sounded great once broken in.

4) Peavey Valve King 2x12 Combo - I bought this amp when they first came out, before all the hype when they were about $150 cheaper. Two days after buying it, it crapped out on me. It wasn't a blown fuse or bad tubes, the amp worked perfectly when I tested it out for a good hour or two in store. The first few batches of the VK's were not very reliable. Ended up returning it and getting the next amp.

5) Peavey XXL 2x12 Combo - I have no idea why Peavey stopped making this amp. It's one of the best sounding SS amps I've come across and unbelievably versatile. It's like a SS version of the XXX, only more versatile.

6) Carvin Legacy 2x12 Combo - I bought the Legacy last year after finally coming across one. Very nice warm, glassy cleans with the smoothest lead channel of any amp I've played to date. It'd definitely a lead players amp, which was perfect for the instrumental stuff I've been doing.

7) Line6 Vetta II 2x12 Combo - I've known about this amp for a while, but haven't had much luck finding one to play. Back in April, I found a store that had one in stock, messed around with it for two days and ended up buying it the second day. Pricey, but well worth it.

Then: Fender Bassman
Now: Peavey TNT 115. Love the tone and the fact that it's NOT a loud amp. The other band members have to keep their volume DOWN. This is a good thing, allows the vocals to be heard and UNDERSTOOD by the audience. I won't be able to play a large venue with this amp, but that's okay. I'm just a little fisherman in a large sea. Later...

Well I'm returning the Peavey, after playing a few practices and 2 gigs with it, I've found that it sometimes bottoms out on the low end. And it also lacks decibels, I have it at vol 9/9 and it's not holding up too well, could be that it's a 50-watt, rather than 120 like the sales person told me? Hmm.

Next!

Some kind of headphone amp was my first. (I dont think it was a rockman though)
Cheap crate 10w practice Amp. -- constant feedback at hi volume :D
Peavey (bandit? I think it was called a bandit...)
Marshall mini Stack -- head fed into some old school 'Acoustic' amp.
Lee Jackson 50w tube half stack
Marshall DSL 401 combo -- wish I still had it
Crate Lee Jackson designed 50w combo

The only thing I have left is the Lee Jackson stuff, but I'm currently on a bankrupting quest for something nice like a Bogner or Orange. I like alot of the new Laney stuff too.

Kramerguy: this is going to sound kind of dumb, but those Raven amps that they sell at Guitar Center (I think theyre made for GC), have pretty damn good clean channels. Theyre solid state, but they have a really wide eq sweep. I was suprised. Seriously. And theyre cheap.
I think they have a 120w 2x10 combo for $300.
If youre running the digitech for your sounds it might be worth it to check one out and see how it sounds with your unit ran through it.
