Rocknrollova2, sorry to hear about your trouble finding people.
I'd love to help, but I'm all the way over here, and soon I'll be heading back to WV for a while.

I'm having similar problems myself, but in reverse.
You're looking for a singer, I'm looking for a band lol.

Anyway, feel free to drop me a line on here or what not, as it's likely I'll be here (Bandmix) a while...

Be kool...

I sent out a dozen or so inquiries a couple of months ago and got at least 50% of them to respond in one way or another.

I found a couple of guys looking for a bass player, so I met with them once only to find out they want a much better player than I can claim to be. I need a lead sheet or SOMETHING to go by.

My main goal was not really to find a working band, anyway, but to find someone to help put music to the songs I've been writing. If anyone (preferably in the Augusta Georgia area, but not necessarily so) would like to collaborate... my words + your music... let me know. I write a wide variety of stuff that can be put to several genres. Country songs are the easiest to write, imo... which is far from expert.

I'm also working on a "post-modern opera" based on the book of Job (it's in the bible, dude). It's coming along remarkably well considering my main input has been the lyrics for the whole thing. My wife has written most of the music, but we do have another guy signed up to help finish it and orchestrate it. It's sounding pretty awesome so far.

We have a little bit of information online about it at http://www.thecompanyofjob.com . No sound files yet, though. sorry.

Don

"Leviathan too! Can you catch him with a fish-hook or run a line around his tongue?" - Job 41:1

I'd love to get in touch with other musicians, too. I sing and play keyboards- I'm working on my guitar skills, but my husband Dave is the one who is an experienced guitarist. I write songs, and I have a voice student who is going to the american idol tryouts in New Jersey next weekend. I think she'll do a great job.

I hope you all don't hate me, but I've gotten several responses from BandMix and I still have a freebie account (I'm one of those bad people who posted their site and email on their profile page). One of the respondents has an "up and coming" type voice so I'm very pleased to be working with her.

So I guess the upshot of this post is, yes, contact can happen....even for obscure Utah pianists/celtic harpers. Keep trying.
