"I am the Unforgiven"
Because education does a mind good, like milk does a body good.
Doesn't guarantee success, but won't work against you either.
For example, I am pretty well-educated and still not doing well at all. Then again, I am in my non-caring stage at this point and time. LOL
Maybe it all means nothing, but then again maybe it all means something.
"One man's truth is another man's invention". It's a wise man that can tell the difference and I am not he, nor will I ever be.

that broke up, guitar players moving away, being kicked out of bands, bars closing up, etc. etc. etc. I still (at age 50) will NEVER give up trying to get something together in music. It's a labor of love. I love creating music. I love singing. Doesn't matter whether it's in a basement, on the radio, in front of a big crowd, etc. I've had more disappointments than most people in this business, but it's too damn fun to stop. I think every year I sing a little better, play a little better, sooner or later something good will come of all this. I've been offered some full time gigs in the past (turned them down for various reasons). Sooner or later something good will happen. You CAN'T give up if you have CREATIVE URGES in music. It would be a waste of talent to quit now. Keep at it and good things will happen. The odds favor it. Good luck...

The funny part was, she was considering either buying me a really nice diamond ring or a watch.... until she came across pics and cassette tapes of my old band a few days before she decided to get me the axe!
An interesting thing about the participants of this forum its diversity. Young and old, male and female, road hardened pros and folks just learning, composers and players, and everything in between. What most of us have in common, to some degree, is an interest in music. Supposedly, were all looking to hook up with other players, for professional, (seemingly mostly "part time"), or "just for fun" at this time.
I've played "off and on" for most of my life. Recorded, got some radio airplay, played lots of weddings, resorts and beerjoints, spent a fair amount of money on instruments, and a lot of time practicing. I somehow found the time to build my own home (am now working on my second), work full time jobs , raise three sons, support a wife (still on the same one since 1971 ), and maintain an interest in astronomy, geology, gardening, wildlife, history, ect.
I play rock, blues and a bit of jazz in my band. I play improvised piano every night for my own pleasure. I listen to classical, blues, jazz, bluegrass, Celtic, do wop ,choir music, (in other words, most everything except opera) In addition, I've been spending a lot of time on this forum, which I have come to enjoy very much.
Keep on playing, brothers and sisters, but remember the line from that old "Incredible String Band" song, " MUSIC - IS SO MUCH LESS - THEN WHAT YOU ARE....

I quit for a 10 year period.
. . . worst decision (or NON-decision) I ever made in my life.
I could have had 10 years more experience . . .
I'm back for good.
If I had a choice of either never playing guitar again, or having somone cut off one of my legs, . . . well, then I'd just have to hop around on crutches for the rest of my life . . .
. . . no joke; it's that important to me . . . .
