Well, staying on the root is monotonous for sure, but these are backing tracks meant for rappers it sounds like. The rapper would be able to change the feel with his nuances, so I think we're missing that. And Franny is right, but only as a general rule. Minors don't always sound sad or gloomy. Alot of my songs, mix minor and major chords, and I often write the melody to keep a root going through the progression, and the effect is often wonderful. It can be inspiring, soaring, beautifully melodic. It's all in how it is arranged and presented, and what goes on, on top, can change the whole feel of the underlying tracks, which again, we're missing what a rapper would do with it.

But I think Franny is just trying to be helpful. I could see that first song building and plateuing on a major to give it a nice climax, but I didn't write the piece. The artist expresses what he feels himself, which is what is beautiful about art, each expression is personal and different. And thanks Celtic, I just don't get it either, why everything has to degrade so quickly from one differing opinion into a bashing contest.

And to the artist, not bad, some good ideas there. I think you could do more with it. I mean that in a good way, cause the basic ideas inspired me. I got into the groove of the work. I think with some finessing some of them could be really good. Neo-Soul could benefit from a better beat. "Smooth" was sweet. I think a rain sound effect would be cool on it. It feels like looking out a window on a rainy day. Reflective sounding.

Anyway. Good job.
