jook, Peaceful Giants Awake was thought up back when I was messing around with Orlando Lake #31 .. that is when I basically started recording using a toneport UX-2 and ableton software with gear box.. I am a newcomer compared to you and planetguy, I wish we were closer so you could show me recording tricks I don't even know about..
I was ashamed and still ashamed of Peaceful Giants Awake.. so ashamed I was keeping it hid from everybody.. like you said, I missed the point, but your crazy rendition of Girl From Ipamea made me think, now is a good time to release it..LOL :D

Dayne and Jook

Not sure if you are aware of this but your "crazy" single tracks will make great loop samples for techno and hip hop.

 Dude, this was a one-off joke between you and me. My band material has nothing to do w/ my released material or Soundcloud. These are all separate entities. The band is straight-up jazz/blues from a female perspective. My releases are somewhat open and are targeted to a totally different market. The stuff on SC is stuff that can't be published and goof-off stuff like 'GFIJ'. I've been reading the running joke about 'TGFI' so I decided to record the definitive version and lay it to rest!!

uh...yeah. i got all that, man! i didn't really think you would use that for demo purposes.

my comment was meant like a joke. you know.....LIKE a joke...just not as funny!

and yeah, I'm hip to Sex Mob. i dig a lot of their stuff since putting a different spin on well known tunes has appealed to me.

Shorter has written a lot of really cool tunes. They often have very unique chord progressions and their form/structure often deviates from typical 12, 16, 32 bar layout.

sure...write out the melody or just record a rough sketch of it. either way, whatever is easier.

and if you want Displaced Pianist as a collaborator you had better have a chart.. :)

I love Shorter's work w/ Miles and his solo work around this era. 'Speak No Evil' is one of my fave recordings of all time. Not really high on his fusion work w/WR.

I'll write it out and send it to you. It's very simple but very catchy. Thanks man!! :D

yeah, checked out the melody and while it's vaguely fiamiliar, i can't quite place it.....sorry.

some of my favorite playing from W.S. can be found on this classic Art Blakey album from the early 60's. What a ridiculous wealth of powerhouse players on this album and the arrangements kill. Then of course, there's Blakey!!!!

Bass – Jymie Merritt
Drums – Art Blakey
Piano – Robert H. Timmons
Tenor Saxophone – Wayne Shorter
Trombone – Curtis Fuller
Trumpet – Lee Morgan

This is THE album i point people to as a near perfect example of Hard Bop
