My spellchecker kept changing it to Bozo faster than I could fix it.

Do you have "Spring Session M"? Any UK after the debut? "Guitar Shop"? These are all essential albums TB played on. If the answer is "No" I would venture to say you don't know the music of Mr. Bozzio.

Then venture away....the only LPs I own are big band, indies and soul music.

But it doesn't take more than a few listens to know that he's a freak of nature. I like his drummer attitude, too.

Admittedly, I first liked his pop band, Missing Persons, because of his wife, the singer. That's where I noticed his hair didn't mess up when he'd do one of those amazing volleys that he does.

Dale Bozzio was the original Lady Gaga. From some angles it can be hard to tell them apart, but Dale was 30 years ahead of her time.

for rock.... i like the guys who can lay it down. in no particular order:

Ringo (he's an easy target but his groove and choices were perfect)
Levon Helm (one half of maybe my favorite R&R rhythm section ever)
Watts
Jim Keltner
Gadd
Michael Shrieve (how many drummers could pull off playing so well w a conguero AND a timbalero???)

Speaking about the Who, Zak Starkey is no slouch, either.

big Moonie fan here!

i first heard Simon Phillips on S Clarke's 1980 album "Rock, Pebbles, and Sand". an absolutely horrible album that i believe was SC's foray into more "accessible" (read: COMMERCIAL) music. :(

thinkin gback on it...this album is probably when i took a break from Stanley. His following stuff w George Duke did little for me too. This album was all of 37 min long and that's 37 min TOO long!

SP looks to be all of 12 yrs on the album photos.

well, there Moonies's PLAYING and there was his over the top attitude and approach.

yrs ago it blew my mind seeing him in a Rockford Files episode playing.... wait for it....an overindulgent, drugging musician w a penchant for destroying things and driving expensive automobiles into swimming pools!

PERFECT casting!!!
