I'm not condoning slavery, it was a bad system, but some governmental authority perhaps thousands of years ago must have thought slavery served a purpose.. if the government (federal) come up to me today and said you need to turn in your tractor, your guitars, all your retail inventory, my guns, without offering compensation for them I would have said I'd rather fight for my right to keep my property.. slaves were property then, and I'm quite intelligent when it comes to American history, and I've never come across the U.S. Federal Government offering any money for compensation to the Confederate Government to be disbursed among the slaveholders as retribution for their losses ..
