I'm not condoning slavery, it was a bad system, but some governmental authority perhaps thousands of years ago must have thought slavery served a purpose.. if the government (federal) come up to me today and said you need to turn in your tractor, your guitars, all your retail inventory, my guns, without offering compensation for them I would have said I'd rather fight for my right to keep my property.. slaves were property then, and I'm quite intelligent when it comes to American history, and I've never come across the U.S. Federal Government offering any money for compensation to the Confederate Government to be disbursed among the slaveholders as retribution for their losses ..

There is no good way to deal with slavery.

The south had a lot of $ in it and they stood to lose a lot.

Likewise, no one deserves to be a slave. If the white people in the south had also been possible slaves, I doubt they would look upon it as a possibility of a cheap workforce.

In short, it's all fun and games until it happens to you personally.
Then it looks like what it is, whatever that might be.

I don't know how this thread got sidetracked to slavery anyhow, guess the Civil War brought it on.. I am not quite sure what the OP was saying with his views.. maybe he meant Syria? but the state of Georgia was mentioned too.. this could be a thread that has a hidden meaning behind it? maybe Georgia is the Georgia that borders Russia? I think I will back away from this until the OP gives us some more insight as to what he was trying to say

The "I have a dream speech" occured 100 YEARS after the Civil War ended. For 100 years "freedom" meant second class citizenship for millions of Americans. It doesn't take a sub-moron to see the unbridled hatred of cowards who wear white sheets to conceal their hateful identity as they carry the "glorious" rebel flag.
Sure there was gallantry on both sides of the battles in the Civil War. Some would say the gallantry was perhaps, more on the side of the South, while the North invented the land mine and pillaged and burned its way through the south towards the close of the war. Not every Southerner was a slaveholder, and not every Northerner was for freeing the slaves as equals.
I have performed with several African Americans over the years, and I'm proud of the musical camaraderie we have enjoyed. And I'm glad things are much better than they were even 40 years ago. But, blind prejudice and hatred still exist in this country. It perhaps may never be vanquished in our lifetimes. One can only hope that someday it will be a thing of the past, and the "I have a dream speech" may finally come to full fruition.

The rebel flag is part of our history, are we to be denied that? If so what other parts of our history has been denied to us, or kept hidden or even falsified.

Vinny you could have easily shown the kkk with the US flag, they are Americans, but aren't we all guilty of liking the only kinda of Americans we like, and then try to show the one's we don't care for in a bad light?

The guy in the back with no head gear is definitely the boss. He has a beard so he must be a middle eastern terrorist. The real clue is that he is wearing VERONA sunglasses that are only sold in Libya. On top of that his robe has a black cross to show his deep hatred of Christian blacks.

Now lets get to the serious stuff. Aside from the fact that flag is missing a few stars... Notice the three that are holding their hands up in a salute. Left to right, one has a typical salute, the middle woman has an index problem. Spock had that problem too. However the woman on the far right is wearing a different type of mask. She is wearing a rebreather and definitely giving a signal back to the mother ship with that pinky split.

No one agrees with this agenda Vinny. These guys are nuts. They use the Rebel flag to get the FEW nutcases and scumbags to join them that they do. Lynard hit the nail on the head, good point of view that reasonable folks agree with.
