I got all my musicial influences, training, etc., during the 1960's and 70's. 60's was right in the middle of the civil rights movement. My training and influences were openly accepted by black musicians in my town, Minneapolis, then Miami which was a smokin' hot music town ebbing toward its own demise by the late 70's.

My music was and still is black Blues, R&B, Jazz, Southern Gospel oriented in everything I do, even old school country music.

I am probably the whitest looking guy I know, too. I believe I prove skin color makes no difference when it comes to intent to communicate in the arts.

However, this election and the last 12 years of mass accumulation by the wealthy is at the heart of issues in my opinion as they control the entire "democracy." Not once was poverty in America addressed. The people really screaming about this are mostly blacks and neither Republican nor Democrat reached out to black community. Just latinos. The Bushes have a newphew or son of Jeb registering for some office in Texas and will be used to appeal strictly to latins, immigrants as policies allow more of them into the country so we cal all compete for their low wages. This affects musicians. And those who are against unionization or guilds don't understand the new class warfare being waged not based on skin color but what you're willing to work for in exchange for your expertise.

Why did Obama "win?" Lord knows. I'm a socialist. Couldn't vote for the same guy who is nothing more than George Bush on steroids, with detention of whistleblowers, mass murderer by drones, sucking up to wealthy who refuse to be taxed one penny more as their tax rates shrink, immigration rises, neighborhoods and communities destroyed by liberal elites who shove people around because of section 8 housing rules into once decent neighborhoods, more foreign wars, etc.

Why would anyone think Obama or any politician on any level gives a you know what about you? This is a rigged system. What are promised are just words in the air. The Justice Dept. is a total joke. BP Oil execs bought corporate media so no investigations took place nor aired and no one went to jail for worst ecological crime in man's history.

And I a "downer?" After working for victories in the 60's for civil rights, what we have is an idiot land shabby substitute where it's trendy to have no dignity, speak unintelligbly, especially with too many "musicians" who are profoundly inept and virtually mumble on their instruments. The strengths that got so-called equal rights all went to HDTV land, cookie cutter Nashville big business money acts, and independents are still at the bottom of every scale imaginable.

All I want is real change. What we got is business as usual, which is more covert murders abroad, even US citizens, kill lists, imprisonment for dope possession costing millions, lower wages, more people, fewer jobs until USA completely vanishes into latino-land.
