there's a lot of half-truths in that bro

The mortgage companies did their own fair share of sharking people, and still do. The regulations arguments are all half-truths, being that the industry was never forced to give loans to people who weren't credit-worthy. Congress pushing legislation to help low-income people get homes was a bi-partisan effort, and really has little to do with the potus anyways, other than the fact that he signed it. You can blame congress all day (and I do), but the potus is the one who has the final yay or nay on all legislation, unless over-ruled by a 2/3 majority, which I don't recall that ever happening during GWB's term.

For the record I have no respect for GWB. Nonetheless I do remember him attempting to gain oversight over Freddie and Fannie while Liberals were saying everything was just fine.

Just doing a simple search of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, mortgage loans brought enough info to light which shows banks WERE pressed to grant sub-pime loans - little to no money down, applicants with poor to no credit history. Tremendous numbers of manufactured housing was purchased with those loans. The larger the institutions that bought those loans, the greater the crash when the loans went belly up because people couldn't keep up with payments and people just walked away from these homes, leaving a national mess for banks which trickled into all other sectors of the economy.

Now, trying to get a loan to buy a manufactured home is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Banks and lending institutions have pulled away from those loans.

Yes. And how can you have an unbiased debate when liberal moderators ask slanted questions? It is a farce not worth the time to watch.

It must have been much like reading the posts at Bandmix, but without the substance that some Bandmix posts bring. :)

Barnry Frank was the one bitch-slapping the banks to loan out. But the banks seized the repercussions and almost went into the housing real-estate business. One Of our accounts at work is Fannae Mae. THey have secured and lock-down space onour site. Nobody gets entrance to see what they do (except for the devlopers and BA s and mgrs on the project)
No transparency...even today!

Truth paperdog, most of what caused the real estate crash was illegal and immoral practices by both banks and the mortgage industry. By 'immoral' I mean they created new financial instruments that were risky, questionable, and destructive, yet completely unregulated, and the SEC? Asleep at the wheel.

Mortgage companies were THRILLED to write the bad loans because they knew they were going to cash the mortgages in, and then watch them sail overseas to toxify someone elses markets. It was a huge game of musical chairs and hot-potato rolled up in one, but all the chairs disappeared and the hot potatoes multiplied many times over.

And still today, not one prosecution, no real regulations, and many economists are already predicting that hedge funds, newer risky and destructive finance instruments/schemes, and derivatives are going to soon crash the market again. And I'm guessing when round 2 bailouts come out is when americans get PISSED and start storming wall st, burning it to the ground. I can't wait for that sh*t to happen.

There's a difference between blaming bush and defending yourself against being blamed for things bush did.

SOrry Kramer, But I call bullshit here... :) The funny thing about GWB war was that the liberal media televised it like it was the House show. Tell me you werent glued to the TV (maybe with Popcorn?) in anticipation of Shock & Awe. I don't recall any anybody protesting the decision for War during the show.

My point is this. American Publican didn't get to see the whole show in its entirety, so they demanded a cancellation of the War... They are pissed ever since, about it.

OBAMA needed to get over it...but its too late now.

well yeah, the media parroted for war as well, I dont care what netowrk or what partisanship - they are sensationalists, and war means headlines.. the media would have been 100% on board with invading scotland if GWB and congress pushed it.

And YES WE DID PROTEST. You didn't see us on TV because they wouldn't aim the cameras at those "free speech zones", aka CAGES where protesters were often tasered, maced, and beaten by cops for doing nothing more than peacefully holding a sign of dissent. Free speech my ass.

I don't theink we disagree paperdog, we're just arguing over semantics at this point.

Getting back to the topic of debates, I didn't watch, which is why I'm hesitant to make any broad statements directly about them, but something I haven't seen and would have expected to see in a town-hall debate would be this question posed to both candidates :

"it's obvious that money in campaigns is corrupting the elections, YES OR NO- will you support election reform that includes public funding ONLY and no private, super-pac, or corporate donations whatsoever?"

THATS an important issue to me, yet nobody is discussing it.
The energy grid is also important.
Neither one of them has been very transparent on their energy policies.

TAXES- are we going to see an end to capital gains taxes.. it's a goddam scam, I get taxed on everything I make, so should they.

Agreed.

BTW the Money issue...All I can Say is that Ron Paul could have been a viable runner in today's debates, if he not gotten outspent.

I think his merits lay in Ideals...So Reformation of campaign costs should be addressed.

Mitt wants to end the tax on capital gains so the middle class doesn't get taxed on the $300 they have in savings. If they even have $300.

The middle class can also leave their hard earned life savings to their kids when they die without the government taking 60% of it!

The reason why they don't have $300 dollars in savings is because Bush1,Clinton, Bush2, and now the socialist President have TAXED US ALL TO DEATH.

Then Death is the form of government being applauded.

So wrong.
