You know the first thing you see when you bring up that video is "ADVANCED GUITAR LESSONS" and a whole bunch of your other teaching videos.
If you had just posted it as a Marcus video of a good song I would have looked at in a whole different way.
You played all the tracks, The drums are awesome.
The bass is pushing.
One of the first things you notice about a good guitar player is playing great rhythm. You have that there also.
But, That solo is just a bunch of guitar technique licks strung together. Granted you did manage to bring it back to you original salvo at the end of the solo, but if you listen to our resident techno wizard,,,, his best tracks are when he is truly being creative.
I come from a completely different school of thought, but I would never offer advanced guitar lessons. I certainly wouldn't push my agenda like like that.
You need a better mix of that, 'NOUGH said. Glenny!

I have not used the forum much here. I posted a few times. Help me out as I am fairly new here. What do you mean be We just did the rounds on this? did I post in the wrong place or something? Did I break any rules?

every once in a while someone comes thru and says post you guitar solo,
you know, so people will listen their guitar solo.
I think the last one was a couple of days ago.

Not exactly Marcus. Translation: There is truly no accounting for taste in music.

I do appreciate a player with chops but personally I could listen to this guy all day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIwYGZlBw9Y

His music moves me yet it is very simple. On the other side of the spectrum we have Yngwie Malmsteen. I would rather put shards of glass in my ears than listen to him play. Incredible technical ability and yet his music is beyond annoying.

I think this is what Glen was trying to say. To each his own.

I looked through the site to try and find the forum rules. All I could find was this

?Hello everyone and welcome to the brand new bandmix.com forum. This is a place where premier members can come together and chat about the latest music news or their personal experiences. We want musicians to feel part of a community where they can contribute their ideas and thoughts from guitar shreddin to on the road horror stories.

We are very excited about this and hope all of the premier members will use this as another place to communicate with their fellow musicians. As any forum goes, we will be monitoring as best we can for content, but we won't be able to catch everything. So READ at your OWN RISK! Parental Advisory may be advised. Enjoy!

-The BandMix Staff?

I really could not find anything that says don?t post songs and don?t post videos. I checked out Seans videos. I checked out Slacker g=G?s music (nice by the way) Checked out Etu?s slide song. (Also nice) checked out celticpiping?s blues tune. Listened to on the edge by guitar mike. I Even heard your song J Christopher.

Sean said, ?This post really took off, told you it was fun to solo! Keep posting music rather than bitching to one another.? That?s probably good Advice. As Sean said it?s fun to post songs and see other peoples work. I was unaware of that post otherwise I would have posted there.

For the life of me I cannot understand the criminal offense of posting a link to a song or a video. If that offends you then don?t click the link. If those threads offend you don?t read them. I thought this forum was a place to share musical ideas, I was unaware it was a place for trolling.

There is no criminal offense in sharing music in this forum as far as I can tell. If there is please show me. If anyone has a video to share please post it. I would like to see it. I?m not kidding.

Thanks to Johnny for explaining things and providing the link to clue me in, which is something you should have done to begin with.

Sorry GT, Yngwie brings on the dry heaves in me every time. I know a lot of guys dig him but I find his music unlistenable. When I am in the mood for a technical guitar shredfest, it would have to be this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7UZZ2d- ... re=related

I come here to learn technique and tricks from all that post .. You can't stop learning or things grow stale. I also love playing rock and blues, thats what I like most. But everyone is different in their own styles ,Tech, tones and just the way they hit different notes... Thats why I love playing so much I can find a tune and hear it played a hundred different ways and hear it for the first time each time... To me that seems to be what a few people need to learn. Of course I may not like something but that doesn't meanI don't respect it. Listen to what some of the best ever done to one song. It makes me a humble man....

Then I hope JD and Neanderpaul puts there version up here also...

I play Rythym and bass and I try a little lead solo once in a while. but I love being a pert of something where I dont have to show off every 5 minutes . I help the people I play with shine.

Your a great guitar player with some good tech skills. I promise to learn as much as I can from you, Glen , JCP, J.haley, Neanderpaul,, Sounsheil, Jimmy Danger ,Bob , Billy , Jethro, Chris ,And everybody I meet here.

Hell without them I wouldn't be playing in the great band Im in..
I get the best advise and critcism I could get anywhere!
Surely a lot are asswipes that I can't mention .. But if you hang you'll grow to love everyone of them. Now before you teach another lick go learn something new..... Welcome to the Forum

I only have two videos posted. They are in my signature. I plan to post more but I am having trouble with my machines converting the HUGE HD video files. They are solo beginning to end.

WARNING> The devil doesn?t like my picking. So you may not want to go there.

First he told me that all my stuff sounded exactly the same. Then he complained that my picking sounded manufactured. Personally I think he is a wee bit too whiny about it all. :)

The devil is a critic that doesn't critique your song, he tells you that your material is depressing and you should make happy music. lol

Well, since he has chosen to speak through you, hasn't he mentioned that your music affords you little credibility in criticizing the musicianship of others? :)

He didn't say much to me except that he's warming up his boiling oil for a certain whiny old blarmy pot with a big mouth and a finger that picks "more than just his guitar".

He says that the guy in question is older than dirt should just "give it the f**k up" cause no one as old as him ever did anything but "sh*t in a diaper" and "stink like he's barely alive".

Anything else I can answer for you, George Bush?
Tell Barbara I said "go f**k yourself".

You'd be great as the announcer of an AARP concert event.
You are too old to play it, but you can be the "mc".

We'll call Linda Lou as well, if she's still breathing after 50 some years of 1-4-5.
